Lovecraft is amazing. Gothic yet somehow feels modern. He was a real weird dude too.

Yes I looked him up because I had forgotten. He died in poverty at age 46 and was really not well known until after he died. Said the writing was brilliant

I'll have to make a mental note of Lovecraft.

Really enjoyed The Ninth Season. Then I got lucky enough to grab Book 2 of that series, The Obelisk Gate, from the library before anyone had checked it out, and I gobbled that one up, too. I spent two weeks with those characters and now I kinda miss them, lol.

Now I'm reading The Left Hand of Darkness, which is about a man who visits a planet of ambisexual humans to ask them to join a United Nations-like group for planets. They only take on gender roles for the brief amount of time needed to procreate.

LOVE Le Guin. LHOD is one of my all time favorites. If you liked LHOD you will want to read more of her.

I also loved the Earthsea series, more than Harry Potter. (well, truth be told, I only "like" HP - I think there are so so so many children/teen/adult fantasy series that are better.)

LeGuin is my favorite fantasy/sci fi writer. I am a huge fan of The Dispossessed, as well as the Earthsea Trilogy and all of them. LHOD is fantastic.

I've never read any of her, but have been interested in the upcoming big collections or Earthsea because Charles Vess (wonderful fantasy artist, did Stardust and some of Sandman with Gaiman) is doing a ton of illustrations for them...

Off topic -

None of the embedded links have worked for me, not here, not in the BB thread, nowhere. Is it just me, or the board?

Wow! The chapter in LHOD in which an Investigator discusses the impact of androgyny and the sexuality of the Gethenians just blew my mind!
