I've heard there's footage of Lee training Steve McQueen. Anyone know if this Is this true?
They're could be but I think Steve
didn't like the idea of Bruce filming him
as he was a bit paranoid with stuff like that was Steve.
I do remember seeing some footage years
back at a Bruce Lee memorial in Bradford
that Andy Staton had put on.
It showed a few seconds of Bruce in the
back yard with Jimmy Coburn.
I'm not imagining it because I can recall
it to this day.
He was wearing them white shorts that he's
got on when he's holding that kicking
shield in the back yard and Jimmy's
kicking it with Bruce having a wrapped
towel around his arm.
Anyway, the footage I seen was Bruce
doing a spinning kick near Jimmy's head.
I've never seen it since.
It was an amazing kick and performed
with such precision and beauty and that's
why I remember it to this day.
I think it belonged to Larry Hartsell.
That kick was mind blowing because he
performed it so up close to Jimmy.

Regards
Tony

I've seen the footage of Lee training with Coburn, but never saw what you described. Goes to show us that there is more footage out there. Too bad we won't see most of it though.

Bruce Lee's Backyard Training (Rare Footage)

Bruce Lee Home Footage:

Two questions:

1. Can anybody identify all the people in the video (kicking, etc)?

2. What year is this?

Sounds like a boastful young punk who watches too much CGI movie.
Boasting? Where?

I've always been a big Lee fan, but let's be honest his students look completely incapable in that video.

Wonder why Lee surrounded himself with guys like these he could thoroughly whup up on...

Hi there!
I think it's roughly 67 or 68.
As regards who was there.
The one's I can identify are, Danny Innosanto,
Dan Lee, Ted Wong, Herb Jackson, Louis Delgado,
Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Not sure about the others.
I know one of them was from Liverpool originally,
but I can't remember his name.
He's the slim guy with black longish hair
and he's in that DVD that Andrew Staton did
back in the early 90's called Bruce Lee Martial Arts Master.
That little guy with the too short looking pants
really cracks me up but he's bloody good the
way he kicks the air shield and he's not young either.
Sorry I can't help more.

Bed Wishes!

What have been seen here are mostly until 1969 backyard training footage.

Still unreleased are 70-71 U.S. backyard training footage (minus Bruce recuperting from back injury Aug-Nov‘70). Daniel Lee and Ted Wong said they left the backyard training at Bruce house in "1971" (after he went shooting Big Boss in July 71).

Also, Bruce shot training/rehersal footage in HK of himself(keeping record of his new skills), Brandon(preparing for TVB appearance), Wu Ngan and with his stuntmen (mainly rehearsals and some trainings) in his Kowloon house 72-73. So far, only Inosanto's G.O.D. rehearsal with Ngan in Bruce's backyard wes shown partially. The rest are not released yet though not much in length as Bruce was busy shooting movies.

Nice to see the late, great Louis Delgado training at Bruce Lee's home. Priceless to hear Bruce telling Louis that he tends to slide to the left when delivering the sidekick. It would have been great if Bruce had someone film his sparring sessions with Delgado. In 1974, Louis told Black Belt magazine that Bruce was the toughest man he ever sparred with. This coming from a man who competed against Joe Lewis in point tournaments and was the last man to defeat Chuck Norris in a point match.
It is sad that Louis never did many indepth interviews on Bruce Lee, if any? He must have stayed out the limelight after his competitive career.

TONY: In 1990, Delgado contracted the HIV virus through a blood transfusion. A year later, AIDS took the life of this martial arts legend.
Thanks for that info Phillip.
What a tragedy.
Cheers mate.
