SEVERAL PEOPLE are crowded around Bruce and Linda.
A MAN, WILLIAM LATHROP, mid 40's, he's facing Bruce, a dime resting
on the palm of his outstretched hand.
Bruce makes a move and Lathrop's hand snaps closed, clutching his
You're very quick.
That's good. But be careful.
Bruce makes a second move and the blur is discernable. Lathrop has
snapped his hand to fist once again and he's grinning.
You missed again.
Bruce opens it. He has the dime on his hand. The group begins to
Bruce turns towards a hand that has been laid on his shoulder, ALAN
RICHARDS, he makes a head-gesture move.
Bruce, come over and talk to some guys at Warners about
"The Warrior", and all that stuff. You know more about
it than they do...
There might be television success for you.
They start walking away and Linda waves goodbye, as he does the same.

INT. THORKEL'S OFFICE
Bruce and Alan are seated and an EXECUTIVE in his mid 50's, ALEXANDER
THORKEL, sits alone behind his desk.
The network is lining up behind the project
of "The Warrior" and I think it's safe to say
we got a green-lit for this.
There's a lot of details to this...But.
Bruce? Are you sure about this?
Tong wars in Chinatown, 1878?
But I may need to speak to Alan privately.
If you kindly please leave us, Bruce.
He emerges from his seat.
See you at the front gate.
Bruce leaves and the men turn to another. Alan launches right into his
I think he should get start fifteen
hundred a week and a piece of series ownership.
Thorkel shaking his head and Alan comes to a half, sudden wary.
I've...had talks with my people...
Bruce has been a consideration,
but nothing is more than that.
Then we've been misled.
Oh, no, no, I'd be happy to have him
for along the series.
He can be our technical advisor and can
stage some of the fights, but face it.
You know we can never sell a series with
a Chinese lead in it.
(NOTE: Alan will be like Brad Dourif in the sense of manner of a
(strict and quick)
That fucking part demands a fucking Chinese for it.
It's his story and his property.
Not necessarily. Not the way we envision it.
Not only do I think you're wrong.
But I'm about to beat the living shit out of you.
Thorkel goes curious.
Alan rises out of his seat and grabs Thorkel and smacks him brutally
in the face spitting blood and his tooth out of his mouth, and Alan
grabs him back again, and he slams his face against Thorkel's face
causing Thorkel to fall on the floor.
A beat for Alan. Until.
He spits blood from his mouth at Thorkel.
Go fuck yourself, you old cunt.
He grabs his suitcase and leaves.
EXT. WARNER BROS STUDIO - DAY
Bruce waiting for a moment. Until.
Alan comes out of the building, he rubbing his nose which has
blood on it.
The old fuck ain't want you for the series.
This must be a mistake.
Let me tell you more.
As they walk.
INT. LEE HOME - DAY
Bruce steams through the living room and then through a door that
leads into his small GYM. Linda comes into the living room, but Bruce
is gone, she goes to the door, Bruce has gone through.
Bruce strides up to a full length mirror, and without pause, smashes
at it with the edge of his hand. The mirror cracks, cutting his hand,
but he attacks it again, picking up a low wooden bench to hurl. He
turns to swing at a punching bag, ripping it open.
He whips blow after blow at it while the sawdust sprays across the
CLOSE ON LINDA
She watched with a certain sympathy and understanding, then she turns
BACK TO BRUCE
He is destroying the gym part by part and piece by piece. Sweat has
beaded on his face and it runs down rain off his chin.
Linda opens the medicine chest and starts to put some things together,
tape and iodine and a roll of gauze. The noise of Bruce's fury is
heard all the while.
CLOSE ON BRANDON AND SHANNON
They stand there with the door closed, looking at their own father,
angered, destroying the gym. Expressionless faces from them.
INT. LIVING ROOM
Linda enters the living room and stops seeing her two kids standing in
the doorway, she puts her materials on the table.
She approaches to them.
Come on, kids, go to your rooms.
They run to their rooms.
Linda stares with a worried look.
BACK TO BRUCE
He had smashed a hole in the plaster wall with his clenched fist,
splintering the lath. He hammers at the until the rubble is deep
on the floor where he stands, then he stops.
He leans against the broken wall, his breath, coming, short spurts
totally spent, and he slowly turns to look across the room.
CLOSE ON LINDA
She stands in the doorway, holding an aluminum pan of water.
She starts forward.
CLOSE ON BRUCE
He slides down the wall to sit on the pile of broken plaster and he
rests his torn hands on his knees. Linda sits next to him and starts
to wash his hands.
I knew it happened again.
She looks at Bruce for a moment, and he looks at her, also.
She starts filling tears from her eyes and then drops the towel and
the pan of water and starts to hug Bruce.
I'm sorry, honey.
Bruce hugs Linda.
He fills tears from his eyes like a brave man.
CAMERA ZOOMS OUT as they still hug.
