There is no slating at GuN of any equipment, player, or play style. We had a young girl come along this month who was concerned her firestrike wasn't up to the job - we told her it was fine and next thing we know she's part of a team of pistol users holding down a corridor and having a great time.

I'd like to think, and this is part of the reason that we have the inclusive games, and then the 13+ plus ones, that we are setting up an inspirational model where a young nerfer sees the modded stuff being wheeled out and wants to aspire to be part of that. And that encourages engagement with the modding and tech side of the hobby. But that's within the context of ensuring the games are playable by the player with a single shot stock blaster.

Using pistol players as a skirmish line is avery good tactic, they work very well for disrupting attacks, scouting and as bait.
I agree a progression through the game should be available to those who are interested. That's one of the great things about the lower power limits, they are more attainable for newer players and less intimidating.
Also glad to see that none of you are reporting any issues with forced divisions amongst players.

Agreed, it's still 90% about the player and only 10% about their hardware. The story of the lass at GuN gives me the warm fuzzies about how this hobby can be inclusive and open progression. However, that's not to say progression is mandatory or even linear. People will derp around with gear, do the thing and muck about. I've held up entire flanks with nothing more than a Stryfe with 3 6 mags - a far cry from my usual 16+1 Rapidstrike/Stryfe combo so don't look at us players with more gear and stuff and see any pressure. Provided you're having fun, follow the rules, respect the organisers and pitch in to help if you're asked then you're welcome on the field. I look forward to you playing army with me and then laughing as I fall on my arse. :P

Over all I have found this hobby to be very accepting and there is no judgement on what blaster you have or how you dress. i think there are a few 'know it alls' in the hobby who are nice people but sometimes they can come accross as 'if you don't do it my way then your wrong', when it comes to modding or in game tactics. When I've experianced this I've been able to filter through it and make a judgment myself, as I'm secure with myself.
But I think with younger players they can feel disheartened if their field tactics are dismissed as 'that will never work' without a second thought, or if their blaster mods are criticised.
Personally I like the light hearted milsim approach, so i have tactical gear, and use some field tactics, but mainly I focus on having fun, which is even more important that winning to me.
For example I emptied a 22 mag with my full auto 130fps stryfe (held sideways gangsta style), into a doorway even though the opponent was behind cover, as soon as the mag was empty they popped round the door and tagged me with a stock strongarm on the first shot. So to analyse that tactics points = 0/10, fun points = 9/10, comidic points = 11/10.

As a wise nerfer once said "if you're not grinning you're doing it wrong".

This is where I see many different play styles come into its own in the hobby. For some going full Gang$ta (@TheDon808's example) is fun, for others playing tactically fully kitted up is fun & for others, its a mix. As a result we end up with a very dynamic game and a balanced mixture of tactics and just all out silly.

It makes the games more interesting and its why I love this hobby, a war with a good bunch of people who play to individual styles makes good overall fun.

I think I can say with total certainty I have never dismissed a younger players mod (I may have suggested improvements after saying well done) nor have I ever said their tactics won't work. I would also suggest anyone seeing that at a game had better challenge it on the spot or raise it with a game's moderating team.
I have also never seen a Britnerf member slate a kids or new members mod at a game and if they had done so on here I would hope it had been picked up by a moderator.
I realise I haven't been to every game but I dispute any suggestion that there are people here actively discouraging attempts at modding or any player who comes forward in a leadership capacity, simply because they don't conform to that players favoured style.
It's still obvious that there are members of this forum with personal axes to grind against individuals and my advice is either take that up with the A&M team, the person you have issues with or GTFO. Simple.

That wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, I've just seen instances of it. I know perhaps we @oldNoob didn't see eye to eye on the promoting the britnerf post I'm sorry that it escalated in the way it did. But it did get me back into britnerf, so I'm just posting my thoughts on the the posts that have come up recently. I think it's great that the younger players are encouraged to 'lead' the team (although sometimes it's like herding as everyone just goes off on their own)

For the younger players it's a great lesson to use the strengths of the players you have, not try to make them into the players you want.
The good thing about a regular game like BB is that the same players can learn to work together in a way that works for them, as opposed to something imposed from outside.

What I was referring to above has always been done in private, and no one has done it directly to anyone's face mid game. Therefore most people are unaware that it is even going on.

I guess as with any group of people there are going to be personality clashes. I think it's important that the majority act quickly to stamp out any overt actions against anyone.
Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye.....then its just a game, find the eye.

Exactly that.
BB has always felt open and safe.
