The Smithers Steelheads fell behind, but them stormed back and eliminated a 4-1 deficit in the second period, with a flurry of six goals, to take a 4-6 lead over the Kitimat Ice Demons.

They seemed set to hand the Demons their second regular season 60-,imute defeat, when Ian Coleman scored to tie the game 7-7 with just 12 seconds remaining in the period. The goal gave the Ice Demons a point, but Smithers won the game and the extra point in the shootout.

The first two Smithers shooters, Randall Groot and Matt Arnold scored in the shootout, but Kitimat's first shooter Blaine Markwart also scored.

Arnold's goal proved to be the winner after Terry Whelan and Derek Wakita both missed for Kitimat and Ian Smith was stopped for Smithers.

For the fans this was a great game to watch, while coaches on both sides were
covering their eyes as the defensemen turned over the puck.

For Smithers the shootout win was justification for their high hopes for an
improved performance over last year. For the Ice Demons, it meant back to basics, better defense and protecting a lead.

Wow, Colin playing with Smithers, talking to a friend of mine from H-town said last year Colin said that Houston is his home town and that we would never play any where else.. Lots of guys live farther away than Colin, Houston guys that live in P.G that still play for Houston. P.S Good job in Kitimat.

I think that most of the Luckies wish Collin luck with his new team and another opportunity to play in the CIHL. Collin is a great player with all the tools except the important one. He is a problem in the dressing room and a headache to coaches and teammates alike. In the right situation he could be a huge addition to any team in the league but good luck keeping him focused.

Couldn't agree more. He was like a ticking time bomb. One minute he was a huge part in his teams success, the next he was taking a penalty and arguing until he was tossed. A change of scenery and a fresh start may be all he needs. You see it all the time. One teams junk is anothers treasure! If he can stay composed he will definately help the Fish.
