I guarantee everyone has bought the CD, DVD, and vinyl, they might not admit it but they have bought them

There has been a lot of grumbling about content which is fair enough tha could be better but 11 quid for a vinyl and 5.1 DVD well I have yet to see anyone really praise EMI for not over charging for once.

i understand your point of view. I have already Ziggy on CD and on tape (Ryko, 1990 - the second album i have bought when i was young).
I wanted a vinyl release.

I was looking at my S&V 1990 version (in the clam box) and it just feels definitive to me. Even the 2002 2 disc version was butchered. My favorite edition is the ryko cassette. Happy days.

I'll admit, I will look at this in the shop but I won't buy it. No need.

Agree with HM!

I played the 1990 EMI reissue cassette to death, literally. It wore out. As I recall I think it charted around #20, which, for a 18 year old reissue, is fantastic.

My only slight criticism is that with all the bonus tracks at the end of side 2, the sequence was a little unbalanced, with side one finishing on Hang On To Yourself, and side 2 only having 3 album tracks (Ziggy, Suff' City and RnR Suicide).

I guess that was unavoidable, unless they made it a double cassette with the bonus tracks on the 2nd cassette. I think Ryko did that with the Ziggy LP, and put all the bonus tracks onto a bonus disc, keeping the running order of the original LP as it was. Extra weight and manufacturing costs, but attention to detail.

Yeah, all the ryko LPs were 3 sided, keeping the original album intact. EMI went for the cheaper option of cramming it all onto one disc but keeping the gatefold. I know what you mean about the cassette being unbalanced, but back in those days It felt nice having not to get up to switch it over for 8 songs rather than 5. Also, it took a bit of detective work to find out the original side 1 and 2 - with some of those albums I just think of the ryko order. Difficult imagining the second side of TMWSTW not starting with She Shook Me Cold

I won't be getting this. He is fast becoming an irrelevant nostalgia artist. All these re-issues dilute the body of work. Imagine re-releasing Guernica with a bonus horse painted in red or a series of different coloured frames or the left-handed version?
Sorry to say that I am losing interest. I will always treasure the music I have but find people like Patti Smith more interesting, alive and vibrant. People have the power, don't buy it . . .

Those of who have ordered this CD/Vinyl and dvd are looking forward to receiving our goodies

It's just a pity that receiving these goodies will be delayed because of that fcuking Queens Jubilee nonsense!!!

Enjoy your goodies Ant. I have just lost interest in the re-releases. Now, something good like the rejected MWFTE soundtrack being released would get me excited again.

The 5.1 mix is far from pointless, for me it isnt anyway.

why are getting upset just because people don't want to buy this re-issue. I have the original vynil plus every cd release of Ziggy so it's not worth the effort for me. It's not even an album I play much.

Calm down dear:)

It's not us vthem. It's a personal decision. How many Bowie albums that just collect dust. Most things I listen to are on my Ipod. Ziggy is a fantastic album and of course it has great sentimal reasons but I play Hunky Dory Diamond Dogs Outside even YA more than I play Ziggy these days.

Of course it's a personal decision but here's a thought, you can't listen to the 5.1 surround sound on your iPod

No I haven't got 5.1 lol so I do understand why some people are going to buy Ziggy again. In reality for me I cannot play my music loud because I live in a flat in London. I like my music loud. I love my flat but neighbours have complained and not all my friends are into Bowie. So I use my Ipod a lot on the way to work and home and when traveling to friends. But I am really genuinely looking foward to reviews on here so please when you get it post what you think.

When I get them I will give an honest opinion.

To be honest I can probably give one now which is yes proper extra content is lacking and the packaging is lazy and in the case of the DVD seriously cheap. The different mixes will be down to personal taste but the saviour of this release is the 5.1 for those who care about surround sound and the pre order price of 11 quid for those of us who got it for the DVD and heavyweight vinyl.

That price of 11 quid for the vinyl and DVD is seriously cheap and whilst not satisfying those who are moaning about lack of extra content and presentation goes some way for me to not making this release a total disaster, remember some of us paid 80 quid plus fairly recently just so we could get a 5.1 disc of STS!

This release is what it is I guess, it will appeal to some but not others.
