Gilbert O'Sullivan is a very talented song writer. I watched a documentary about him about 2 months ago.

I like Bert Kaempfert.

I think I picked Alone Again Naturally as one of my desert Island discs in a thread a while back.

Here goes...I secretly like Phil Collins' Against All Odds.

the first 2 five star albums - luxury of life & silk and steel [takes me back to my younger teen days.]

howard jones [those mid 80s 12" mixes]

thompson twins [same as above]

and of course the glass spider tour and never let me down[tho i don't know why i should feel guilty in getting pleasure from this era of bowie - i just love it - the whole thing, the look, hair, suits etc.]

Sandy did a version? or do you mean Mary Hopkin (TV's Ex and Sound and Vision backing vocalist).

as for me i ADORE Scott Walker even at his crooniest/cheesiest.

i have a soft spot for Trash Glam Singles ... Gary Glitter and the solo Glitterband ... Sweet ... Hello ... Slade ... Sailor ... Cockney Rebel ... and of course slightly more respected Mott the Hoople ... T.Rex ... Be Bop Deluxe ... Roxy and Eno.

i love Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Fischerspooner. and Vince Taylor who i liked before i knew of his Bowie connection.

I like Grandfather Jones' selections also.

Iggyziggy , I'm with you about those 70s bands but for me the order would be different Bowie and Roxy followed very closely by Steve Harley ,I saw Be Bop Deluxe and liked em , but respected or not for me they were way behind Steve Harley so were T Rex for that matter ! in fact on a good day Harley wasnt to far behind Roxy .

The great thing about seeing Be Bop Deluxe's Sunburst Tour was discovering the Doctors Of Madness a band trapped right inbetween glam and punk !

actually i agree that Harley should be in the second group ... although T.Rex will always be bigger for me ... being my first love, even before Bowie. I thought Cockney Rebel an amazing singles band but often found Mr. Harley's voice a little grating in LP format. In fact it was not until "Timeless Flight" that i really could listen to an album all the way through. I really love that album though ... although by that time he had lost some of the spontaneity of the early stuff. Even though he came up (like Bill Nelson) in the shadow of Bowie he really did try to create a new sound (no guitars and violin as a lead instrument !)and for that he should be commended / remembered. I only saw him once in concert (Wembley 1975/76) but the only thing i really remember about it was that it was the first time i dared to wear Make up in public ... seems like a small thing but that was a big turning point for me.

Hi Iggyziggy , we've more than likely got similar taste when it comes to early 70s glam probably just different preference of order

I'll try and put mine in an order
Bowie
Roxy/ Alice Cooper/Lou Reed/Iggy Pop /Harley + Cockney Rebel

Sparks/NewYork Dolls

T Rex/ Gary Glitter / Sweet /Sailor

P.s always thought the outro of Twentieth Century Boy was awesome !

I'm ashamed to say that I just love Dollar's 'Hand Held In Black & White'. My aunt has it her otherwise wicked music collection and I think it's a great pop song.

Tragic, I know.
