I'll give it a couple of spins this week because it only runs for about 30 mins! You'd never get away with that these days.

All the years I've been a Bowie fan ( for over 30 years now ) all the albums I see come and go, but one stays in my mind as top notch and most excellent and that is 1. Outside, It always holds my full attention.

"space oddity"
... It rings with ironic humour, is lush
with electronic and acoustic renderings of the most
sincere attempts of modernist artistic expression.

I think the less than stellar artistic acceptance
of the Bowie oeuvre caused bowie to tunnel into
lowest common denomination of pop/rock
commonality and morph his talents into cracking
the contemporary successes of whatever was hot 100.

He reallly IS a genius; with '3' L's !!!

Space oddity is a one in a million record !!!

pin ups - yes i would say so and Lee i can't agree it's lacklustre it rocks hard.

lodger again like the man who sold the world for a long time was undervalued and often overlooked compared to many of his other albums, but i think things have turned around in more recent years with both finding a place in many critics top ten bowie albums.

buddha of suburbia - most definately needs a wider audience a long forgotten gem of an album.

1.outside i agree with a claude its a very good album but not a superb one and it's certainly not underrated, if anything quite the opposite.

BTWN i would say not it did reach number one in the uk and did pretty well but again it's not a great bowie album with a handful of excellent songs.

hours i like better and i would say again is underated, thursdays child was wrongly chosen as the lead off single.

never let me down - well you all know my love for this album again wrong lead off single, it is an excellent pop album of it's time.some fans seem to jump on the critics bandwagon with this album, they tell em it's crap so they start to believe it, don't listen just enjoy.if you took out 87 and cry or new yorks in love and replaced it with julie - top notch.

tonight - again not as bad as it's made out to be, not by a long way.take out i keep forgettin and again an excellent album.

tin machine 1 - at the time was raved about but opinions seems to have gone backwards for some reason - underrated yes.

tin machine 2 - yes again - sold poorly unfairly so, baby universal as a lead single it's fortunes may have been different.

Reality for me.

I don't think TMWSTW is underrated Lee,but it does seem somthing of a 'forgotten album'.Rarely gets discussed on here.
Same goes for Lodger.

Yeah "lodger" for me... Loved it back in the day & still do, Some gems in there... Was it one of Bowie's lowest selling albums? If so shows that shifting units doesn't always go hand in hand with quality.

Ironic that Tin Machine were marketed in black & white, no grey areas. That's how I took to the songs... I really liked some & really hated others... No growers for me, not like like many of his previous works.

I still think the main reason Bowie wanted a vehicle like Tin Machine was that it showed that he was trying very hard to remove himself him from the mediocrity that was Tonight & NLMD, and to that end I think it worked, as some great stuff followed.

Hi

.... I have a pinch too.... but can never
remember to buy papers. Can you smoke this
stuff whilst banging back Rhy Whiskey and Water....
Or is Grass better enjoyed in its pure sence.

I have heard of brownies and things too.
But whenever I tried those I pretty much
totally forgot that I had ingested them.

ESPECIALLY when pouring down the Rhy..

GRAET Thread, BTW

Much smiles DIz.
