Well Al Alba is the obvious one. What could be the b-side?

Heroes in Spanish? If it exists. Seriously, what songs does he have with a Spanish connection? Tryin' To Get To Heaven?

I've never heard of that.

Another thing they could have is a recording from a live show of his in Spain. Which is cheating but hey, I wouldn't be surprised.

according to the liner notes on space oddity 40th, spanish space oddity was considered after the italian version but they never did it...i'm guessing it doesn't exist...you still never know with these things but i reckon the cream of the crop came out with the rykos.

how about day in b/w al alba (7" single versions of course)

Like he said, there's 'Fame/Beauty And The Beast' and 'Heroes', both Spanish 12" Disco Singles. I don't think they'll use them though.

I've got my tickets for two days

First day I'll rush through it to calm down the hunger
Second day I'll be there for hours savoring every item

By the way, Al alba?
It's the very worst input in his songbook.
Better nothing than that crap

Watch Barcelona, it's VERY bad for pickpockets, even worse than Marseille. The other thing is beggars. French beggars ask you for cigarettes, Barcelonic beggars ask you for money.

Al Alba would be an obvious choice to include, but maybe as the B-side and something else as the A-side? Although it is not good, I guess it would be nice to see it finally get a physical release after being available legally as a digital download for 10 years. I'm presuming that the tracks we're seeing in these picture discs gives a glimpse of the sort of things we can expect to see from the vaults, so if this one has anything unusual on it then it might be good news.

In Paris – where the single series started - A was Herós AA Heroes (live Vancouver 83)
In Melbourne A Let’s Dance AA Let’s Dance (live Vancouver 83)
In Groningen – Holland A Amsterdam AA My Death (live Carnegie Hall 72- also from Jacques Brel)
In Bologna A Ragazzo Solo Ragazza Sola AA London Bye Ta Ta (just something from the same period)
And in Tokyo (the first Picture Disc in the series) A Lady Stardust (special status in Japan – the only country where it was for example on NHC) AA Crystal Japan.
If an exhibition 7 inch will bereleased Al Alba is obvious but the AA side is a puzzle.
Maybe it is just Julie.

By the way Wok what has Argentina and Mexico has to do with Spain in this context ?

eh, well the context is they speak the same lingo...like lady stardust must have a special affinity with japanese folks 'coz they like singing it at karoke? when i went out to a tribute on the 8th i could already tell by the age-group of ppl that came over to my house what stuff they wanted to hear...the cover band played 'a small plot of land' which tickled me pink. outside, smoking a spliff a guy in his mid-50s said to me: "do you know any of this stuff they're playing?"

it's kinda lowest common denominator stuff

"eh, well the context is they speak the same lingo"

on that Logic, if it ever ends up in Canada, NZ or Ireland; they should use London Boys because we speak the same lingo.

Best of Bowie is a career-spanning greatest hits album by English recording artist David Bowie. It was released on 22 October 2002. The songs range from his second self-titled album (1969) to Heathen (2002). It was released 35 years after his debut album, David Bowie. In each of the 21 territories that the album was released, it was given its own track listing, based upon which songs were most popular locally. In a number of countries, there were two versions – a single-disc version, and a double-disc version.

I'm just saying it is simple marketing. They could put anything on it and it would sell but they'll crunch the numbers...was it bobby brown goes down by frank zappa that was considered a slow-dance number in certain countries?

....and of course you forget Pablo Picasso

...and the American single version of rebel rebel is very Spanish of course.

They could do an album coloured vinyl or picture disk release of El Hombre Que Vendio El Mundo - it's been a while since that's been available (I've got an early '80s re-release and I don't think it's been reissued with the Spanish title since...

I think Heroes would sound pretty cool in Spanish.

I'm sure they would have to adapt it to put Red Neck into the lyrics.

well it looks like we all got it wrong. They have decided to go for I'm Afraid of Americans b/w Heroes (Bridge school version). Which makes no sense.

It's like they have used I'm Afraid of Americans as a sort of political statement.

They have even cheekily said at the end of the article.

"Bet you were expecting, Al Alba, the title of the Spanish language version of Day In, Day Out."

well yeah.

It's the clearest political statement they ever made, with not only the wall references, but the colours of the Russian flag on the disc.

Worth getting for that reason alone.
