As Ziggy seems to be winning easily over Heathen in Claude's post, here is perhaps a harder one. Outside vs Station to Station

you can't beat a song like STS but still it's 1.outside for me, the sound of that album makes me listen to it again and again thru the years, STS i appreciate as an iconic album but still i don't listen to it that much.

Outside. STS is great and has good songs, but Outside has sonicly and contentwise much more to offer.

Both albums are Bowie masterpieces and I could never favour one over the other.

But my signature may give you an idea as to what really wins my heart

Station to Station by a country mile.
Outside is a good album.
Station to Station is a timeless rock masterpiece.

Musically, 1. Outside is adventurous in the way it seems only Mr. Bowie can be; it's such fun to listen to. On the other hand, I find the spoken-word interludes have dated badly, and Mr. Bowie's Brooklyn accent is...dare I say? Lame. I'm sure he'd criticize my Cockney, too.

But Station To Station is, well...Station To Station.

are you kidding me?
how can you compare these two albums.
1.outside is just too sober and pretentious.
bowie just reveals his tortured soul and lays bare his problems on station to station, it's just so natural, heartfelt and real.
they are of a different time and place.
and i love to hear where bowie was back in 75.
maybe it's an age thing i can understand a more newer younger fan opting for outside.
station is a slice of genius on every level, 1.outside is never gonna be seen as an album to challenge it's brilliance.
it's an ok album but amongst his least fulfilling for me, there is just too much filler, it's just too long and overblown and all that narrative stuff is crap, buddha was much more interesting, bowie's best when he works fast.

Do you think stationtostation album has been conceived for TMWFTE soundtrack?

They are both overwrought.....
But due to the illiduciating rendition of
Davd Live - Then THAT is by five-
hand-folds the winner in terms or
listenability and happy endings.

Station to Station has to0 many pretensions
to 'modernist masterpieces" .....
Widths of them circles IS however MIND altering
on the dave Live LPP.....

It's tempting and maybe too obvious to say STS because it's one of the Bowie classics, but 1 Outside was such a creative body of work at a time in Bowie's life when he could so have easily packed it all in and called it a day, therefore 1 Outside just edges it for me.
