These Vinyls are going to cost some of us “OCD” collectors an extortionate amount of money on eBay.

Why don't they just get on and release the whole of the Berlin 1978 gig, preferably on cd?  After all these years there is still not a complete release of a single show from that great tour.
First it's a three track download only, then it's one track on a 7" b-side, now it's another three tracks on a 12".  It's like continually teasing the fans. Trouble is as long as people are desperate to keep chasing every format regardless they will keep doing it.

Well I think I have a friend in NYC who's going this Friday and she's picking one up for me to ship back. I will, of course, be immediately digitizing the mini-album to share with all here

I think the yellow ‘Let’s Dance’ Single was a very limited release, more so than all the other ‘David Bowie Is’ exclusives.

Just heard that Perth 78 , won’t be RSD 18, shame and a missed opportunity, but will will be getting a live Earls Court 30th/ 1st July 78 recordings, does that means Perth 78 will probably go for in excess of £100 unless released elsewhere!

Is there a Perth 78 in existence anywhere?  I thought they just used a track on a single b-side.

Great, more impossible to get Bowie items...

Why oh why do they keep on releasing these extremely limited records? To enable eBay sellers to make ridiculous amounts of money rather than make it possible for regular fans to buy a copy at a normal price?

It world be great if so called fans would sell the Brooklyn Museum ‘Vinyls’ as a decent ‘Buy Now’ price instead of putting them on ‘Place Bid’ were they will be getting an average of £300 for 3 items that are all officially worth less than £30 each.

I attended on Friday, but what struck me as odd, before we went upstairs to the Bowie IS, we could buy all the vinyl before going upstairs, I assumed they would ask for our tickets at the point of sale, but no, meaning any Tom, Dick or Harry could buy as they pleased and went away without even seeing the main event.

After we exited the Exhibition all the goodies were there, as I had expected it would be, just struck me as odd
you could buy in the downstair museum shop.

Did this happens anywhere else? Would love to know, as I think it is so wrong.

I compared Blackout from this post with the rip I have from the B-side of Beauty and the Beast and it sounds indeed a bit slowed down.

Yep Blackout does seem to be a bit pedestrian on the rip from the mini album, but....

Ive got two rips of Blackout (both from the B side of BATB pic disc) and both obtained from the web - one in flac (which clocks in at 3:31) and another in mp3 (which clocks in at 3:24).

The version from the Live in Berlin 'mini album' from the link in the post above clocks in at (3:35)

On a quick comparrison ALL appear to start and fade/end at the same point. So, as these have all come from different sources, I can only assume its due the possibly the pitch control on one (or more) of the decks used to record them have been a bit out.

I guess it needs someone with the album and high end kit to check this out - so maybe vinyl aint that great after all, if there can be so much difference caused by the speed of the record deck.

I just checked the timings of the earlier released digital EP 'Live in Berlin' :
01. (Be My Wife (live) (2.51)
02. Sense Of Doubt (live) (3.18)
03. Breaking Glass (live) (3.36)

These all compare favourably with the timings of the same tracks on the rip of the mini album.
So maybe Blackout from there IS correct and was played that way on that night.

They are $25 USD each and the 7" Time / Prettiest Star was $15 USD.

So I had uploaded my updated 40th Anniversary Picture Disc Collection here a while ago after getting my personal rip of "Blackout" from the Beauty and the Beast PD and I will admit that I ended up adjusting the speed in post-editing after recording, one reason for that being that I have indeed noticed a few times before that my personal turntable can sometimes be playing the vinyl either slightly too fast or too slow, so I adjusted it by speed to achieve the correct pitch as compared to the live version from the Stage album. So all of this to say that I guess it's very possible that even my personal needle-drop of this live track was sped up too fast, but I also couldn't imagine that they would play the song in a completely different key signature?

db's voice just sounds very odd to me on all the downloaded tracks from that rip - like it's a pitch control issue as someone else mentioned.

I’m thankful that it was posted, but yes, it sounds odd to me as well. The opening to Be My Wife especially so... but then again I liked the “sped-up” version of the original Sue when it was posted on Bowie’s site... so I may not be the best judge.

hi, very strange behavior from that download site - the file shows up in my directory now, but it did not show as a result of a keyword search, nor from the Firefox toolbar Download Button earlier today.

It's all good!

Everything on this album is so sung so differently, he's very campy and slightly over the top theatrical, having fun. ( I never listen to live albums, so can't remember if it was all done like this on STAGE)

Thanks.

I bought the vinyl of STAGE when it came out, in the previous century (But I don't have a functional turntable anymore) Never got it on CD. So haven't played it in 25 years maybe. It's fun to hear that stuff with somewhat fresh-er ears.

Yes, sorry for not commenting sooner, had a bad cold, but I listened to it in the early hours, and it sounds a very good transfer indeed - so thank you for your efforts, particularly in sharing them.

I'd listened to bits on youtube before and not been that impressed - to be fair not so much a problem with the pressings / transfers - more my willingness to give it time to appreciate the recording.

I still don't think it's a great recording per se, it is a mixing desk cassette recording after all - I listen to such things and a lot worse quality, but my opinion remains a retail double album / LP would not have been appropriate.

But as a one off single LP it's interesting stuff, and a nice live mix from the night itself makes it a pleasant listen when compared to other 78 recordings.

@libertine90 - thanks so much for the Berlin 78 sounds. I do have a problem with the 'Blackout' file as the audio cuts out after a few seconds and does not return. Please could you check if the google drive master file is working OK.

It worked for me - and I just double checked my version too (I had listened to it all through without a problem the first time around).

We need a visual release for the 78 tour. I suggest a blu-ray of

Disc 1 : Stage: The Motion Picture
Disc 2 : Musikladen
             'Live on Stage' RCA clips
             Janet Street Porter interview
