no real surprises there.
obviously not voted for by many of the diehards i would suggest.
whenever there are album polls in general it's always ziggy then hunky with low thereabouts.

Ziggy Stardust is usually 1st with good reason.

Good CDs there, but not earthing or glass spider? Earthling is great one of his best IMO. And Platinum collection has all the good ones on it.

I know what your saying lee in which case I'd go for 1.Outside without a moments hesitation, but Ziggy is so iconic.

Ziggy makes a case for itself simply because the music manages to be avantgarde, commercial, thought provoking, well constructed, constantly playable even after all these years, and yet throw away (in a pop music sense) all at the same time, it's a concept album yet it isn't a concept album, it's perfectly recorded ( play at max volume guys ) and the Spiders played magnificently on it, as a side point but not strictly relevant I know ;-)it's an album that is also indelibly linked to Bowie's most iconic image EVER! you play TRAFOZZATSFM and his Ziggy persona and stage act immediately flashes into your mind.

If any of those are not reasons enough for it to constantly be the default top choice of die hard fans them looking at it from a purely basic instinct point of view which all those Labyrinth fans seem to be doing then it's quite simply the album that quite rightly gave David Bowie his real breakthrough after years of trying by being such a unique and brave piece of work for it's time which was in the very straight laced early 70's. The Ziggy Stardust album signaled the emergence of David Bowie as a real storm force of talent where as Labyrinth just signaled David Bowie as a bad joke.

Surely reasons enough to justify The rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust And the Spider From Mars ( to respectfully give it it's full title ) it's elevated status.

the poll well the top 5 really is about right.
if you look at 1001 albums to listen to before you die and many other music polls in general these bowie albums are all right up there.
you can exclude lets dance and labyrinth these must be voted for by casual music listeners & don't deserve to be in there.
1.outside i can't understand that decision i think theres been a fix of some sort there a small clutch of fans voting a few times over.
heathen deserves it's place.
agree about buddha his most underrated album and probably doesnt feature higher as there are a lot of people out there who wont' have criminally even heard it.
ziggy i agree is a top top album and it was his big breakthru and i understand why it's no 1 but there are others i would put before it.

where the hell is scary monsters,lodger,t.m.w.s.t.w. all very underrated and of no surprise that they are not in there [not enough diehards voted]

but it certainly in the main does not surprise me how this album poll came out.
