Bowie was a masterful songwriter. He tackled the topics of Time, Change, and the modern American landscape and captured them perfectly.

For example,

From Time:

"You are not a victim. You just scream with boredom."

From Changes:

"So I turned myself to face me, but I never caught a glimpse."

From Young Americans:

"Not a myth left from the ghetto."

It is difficult to address such weighty concepts and succeed, but Bowie did it.

I agree with the first quote/snipett,from "Time"
It is summit insightful and worth analysis.
... the victom/boredom bit.
But it is difficult to tease out the victimization from boredom.
Especially in these golden years. I mean... don't
let me hear you, Sam, say lif3 is taking you nowhere.

He would it maybe have been stronger writ with 'you are a rectum'
'And you act like one, fine...'

Harrah!!

Played TMWSTW album a few times the other day. Never noticed the lyric:
"My knees were shaking, my cheeks aflame." Genuine LOL moment.
Not often a Bowie lyric will make me laugh, maybe that & When I'm Five.

Well, laugh!
