i just got the new edition ... which is my first edition ... read the first 300 pages in 2 days and i'm learning lots of things i didn't know before which says a lot since i have now been a fan for over 29 yrs. i would have to say that more than any other writer i agree with his taste too ... he knows the good stuff ... except for his love of the song "Glass Spider" which i think may be the worst thing he has ever done . i expect i will be up late again tonight devouring the rest. a hearty thank you mr.pegg !

the last edition i read had the earthling-era cover...must be the best part of 10 years ago...time flies!

it's been years since i've swatted over db. i'd be interested in the berlin years book but i remember nicolas's book being so good that i will succumb and buy this new edition...christmas pressie for myself (no one brings me flowers any more).

i read so many bowie biographies that it was overkill...i may be able to read with new eyes now...

Hi Nick -
Thanks for the new edition...Ive all 6 and have read them all cover to cover, highlighted and scrawled notes over each one
A cheeky question I know but I would assume that due to your in depth review of DBs 1971 Glastonbury appearance you have actually heard the tape ???

My copy arrived two days ago. Not yet had the chance to sit down and begin the long and beautiful reading process however Saturday morning looks like being my "Bowie morning" so to speak.

Am very much excited to discovering the new odds and ends about the Bowie cannon.

Thanks in advance Nick! I have 3 of the previous editions and they were all brilliant books.

its great just as a reference book too, i've just been diving into certain songs to read up as i was playing the complete deram deluxe album earlier. been comparing the mono & stereo versions & then disc 2 as i'm reading nicks comments.

theres a fair bit on its gonna rain again i'm assuming then that someone somewhere has access to this & as heard it?

I'm getting the feeling Mr Pegg must have heard some of these unheard tracks - I had a similar conversation with Marc Riley about hearing some 'gems' in the vault. All I can conclude is that they are close to leaking.

I don't believe that Lodger demos had no guide vocal or rudimentary lyrics on it!

Thank you once again for all your kind comments about the book. I'm delighted that people are enjoying the new edition.

To answer a couple of queries above: yes, I am fortunate enough to have been able to hear a number of rare recordings, whose owners were happy for me to write about them in the book. And yes, believe me, I do know how lucky I am. And no, before you ask, I don't have a copy of Glastonbury 1971. Just a notebook full of notes and the memory of a very happy afternoon!

Nick

Thanks for your reply Nick
Another cheeky question - Do you think any will ever see the light of day - either officially or unofficially???
