"Panic in Detroit 1979" was on the Ryko SM, but not officially before then, just like "Sweet Head", which we did not get on the first box. Unless they decide to make an exception or exclusive, it won't be included"

Good point

John I'm Only Dancing Again wasn't released at the time either but was included on the second boxset. Twice.

Neither was The Grouster, or Nassau 76. Or David Live 2005. Or Harry Maslin's 2010 STS mix.

John I'm Only Dancing again was a b side to a single in the 1970's. I had it. Can't remember which single it was but I certainly had it.

Throughout his career, Bowie made sure that good tracks that didn't make it onto albums for whatever reason were put out on singles. Velvet Goldmine has already been mentioned in this thread. Same with Holy Holy.

Yeah but we're talking about release within the timeframe of the box.

I think we concluded last time around they just bend the rules to suit themselves, which is frustrating, but you know... fine really. It's only a problem because it keeps us guessing

I do feel for those who would've associated Holy Holy as a DD era track having got it on the single and added to the end of their homemade DD cassette back in the day. Likewise VG which many people would have fond memories of 1975. Would've helped adding them to Re:call 1 in chronological order.

I'd hope that the tracks held back (mainly the Ryko bonus cuts that haven't featured so far, the 40th anniversary b sides etc) will be form the basis of a rarities box, or added to next deluxe reissues of the appropriate albums. I guess expanded versions of the albums is the best bet because straight reissues probably won't sell too good without added incentives.

I know there has been much discussion already on a third box set following who can I be now and Five Years but I really would like to know what month it was last year those photos of Bowie on the motorcycle came out on the net exposing that the Who can I be now box was on its way at some point and when did they officially announce the box set was due in September?
Sorry for the punctuation or lack of. Anyone know anything? Can anyone atleast say something is happening without breaking any rules?
My idea for the boxset:

-Low (2017 Mix)
-"Heroes" (2017 Mix)
-Stage (2005/2017 Mix)
-Stage (1991/2017 Mix)
-Lodger (2017 Mix)
-Scary Monsters (2017 Mix)
-Baal (2017 Mix)

Re:call 3
-Some Are
-All Saints
-Sound and Vision (1991 Remix)
-Abdulmajid
-Joe the Lion (1991 Remix)
-"Helden" (1989 Remix)
-Look Back in Anger (1988 Version)
-Space Oddity (Re-recording)
-Panic in Detroit (Re-recording)
-Crystal Japan
-Alabama Song
-Under Pressure
-Peace on Earth (Little Drummer Boy)

Not expecting any new content unless they do Perth 1978, or an official version of the Live in Bremen/Transmission boot.

I think biros list looks good.
I'd just add to that the baal ep.
I hope it's a standalone ep rather than tagged on to recall.

Perth would be great.

low
heroes
lodger
scary monsters
lodger remix
stage original
stage 2005 remix
Perth
baal ep
recall 3

Vampires were just demo's stroke unfinished takes the Ghouster was at the time a completed project fully mixed and finalized

Exactly my thoughts on 'Planned Accidents'.

Would be great if all these working versions were left off here and added to the respective album's individual reissues.

The Visconti Lodger new mix I'd say is our best bet.

I'd be willing to bet... "Planned Accidents" will be the name of the TV Mix of "Lodger"

...here's hoping that it's more than just a new mix, and that it incorporates the longer / alternate songs (there's an old thread about it... from like a book-reading or whatever; same with an alternate version of "Scary Monsters" which had a longer version of Crystal Japan)

Agree it may be called Planned Accidents

Would be VERY surprised if it's other than a remix, but hey, it's all good.

It's not as if there's no db work out there....

well, I mean - we KNOW that Tony Visconti completed a "remix of Lodger"

but unfortunately, Tony didn't go too much into detail about how it would be different... beyond a statement that was something along the lines of 'Lodger' not sounding as good on the record as in the studio... this is from the interview he did a few years ago for "Red Bull Academy"

(he also played them something special at the event, but he had them cut the cameras during that bit)

...but then again we also know that deluxe editions of both "Low" and "Hunky Dory" were announced, but never released.

Yeah bit irritating when people make stuff up like that.
I'm sure it's coming soon but nobody would be able to pin it down to an exact date of a press release.

That's obviously what I'm expecting too. Just following on from the statement made last week on here. But then again, anything's possible I guess. Especially if that other prediction about the "new album" on iDBd before the end of the year has any sort of truth to it

Hey, I'm not the one who posted on here that the "big reveal" would be given on Friday! I'm just trying to call out he who did. Although what's the point? We all knew it was kind of bullshit to a certain extent, didn't we?
