Someone just showed me this today. Surely they can't be legal tender unless they're made by the Royal Mint?

You can put together a nice set of denominations from his avatars...Ziggy on the one pound, Halloween Jack on the fiver, the Duke on the tanner...

When these first launched db was one of the "suggested" faces to be used on the second batch of releases.

I seem to remember a poll were people voted - I remember plugging it in September 2009 on BW news page to get people to vote for Bowie?

People were complaining that why should Vincent Van Gogh be on a Brixton note and not its most famous musician?

I think they are a great idea to keep money in a specific area which helps local shopkeepers and shoppers.

http://brixtonpound.org/about/notes/

Well - if the worth of currency IS 'socially created' then db coinage
would be a sealer of worth. He means a Lot-lot-LOT to me!

Perhaps this run on gold and other elements will even run their course
once we realize that it's worth ISn"t Socially created....

what a backlash THAT'll bee in a social universe

Very Interesting !!!

thanks

Didn't know Van Gogh had hung out in Brixton...

Problem with putting Mr. Bowie on the notes, of course, is that people like us will take them home and treasure them, and they won't get used.

I dont think it's a good idea. simply because people will want to keep them as collectors items and not spend it back in to the community. Then they will have a shortage of 10s.

I've always thought the profile picture from Low would look great embossed on a coin.

The US Postal Service has announced that it would end its policy of only putting dead people on stamps and is asking for suggestions.

Can't think of anything, can you?

Actually, I'd go for Bob Dylan, since I don't actually know Mr. Bowie's citizenship status. He's at least a permanent resident, but I don't think he ever took the plunge. You gotta take a test and swear allegiance and all.
