I had been playing music CDs through DVD and more recently a Bluray disk player. So I decided to buy a CD player designed to play music CDs.
I bought a previously enjoyed Yamaha cdc505. It's not a 'Sim Audio' 'Moon' CD player or other tremendously expensive unit, but is IS head and shoulders above the Bluray I have been using. What I forgot was the greater weight of a CD player. I suppose the revolving disk changer adds weight like mad. Bluray players are so light weight and seem unsubstantial. What is going on up inside these things that would result in the marked and greater quality of the CD player? Digital reproduction is equal across players I believed. Well that idea is now out the window.

My main player is this, sadly no longer made http://www.arcam.co.uk/products,fmj-dv2 ... player.htm  this is the best of both worlds, standard dvd/blueray players are a compromise when it comes to audio I believe it is all due to the dac's used.

Very nice set. The Arcam on ebay seems like a great bargain.

I forgot all about 5.1 audio disks. Wouldn't make a difference for me though. My amp is a 46 year old Marantz 2230. Stereo sets offer perceptual illusions that are plenty entertaining enough for me.  I have always been amazed by the simple cone of confusion offered by stereo recordings. Saying that tho', your Arcam sounds like a doozy.

Gosh I'm starting to suffer from quality angst. I'm not familiar with either of those brands.  I'll keep my eyes open for those players if they are available over here.
Cheers.
