They would go well in a Bowie Museum.

That is a great start Eamonn. To their credit MT did a good job with the '83 SMT Bowie figure. I wonder if its still in existance, or do Tussauds melt them down for future models?

I wonder what happened to the Ziggy dummy standing above Piccadilly Circus for most of the 80s?

i'd forgotten about that hm - and have passed that spot many times.
With some addition of Ziggy make up that too would of been a good aquisition?

Surely any Bowie museum would have to be somewhere in London wouldn't it? I mean he is fundamentally a British artist, he was born and raised in areas around London, his most iconic years ( IMHO ) ie Ziggy and Aladdin were classed as the London years, not to mention we Brits were the ones to fire him into stardom and stuck with him whilst American society in general were trying to come to terms with who and what he was back in the day

I suspect many will argue against this though ( especially Americans who quite frankly I'm afraid of! )

ooer!!

My neice saw an exhibit at MTussaud's back in 1987 but it was Bowie in the Pierrot (Ashes to Ashes) gear...not exactly up to date then, but at least he was still high profile!

It's such an intriguing idea, and it could go so many places!

What should go on exhibit at The Bowie Museum?

I would have 2-3 museums around the world.London and New York and maybe one in Japan.Apart from album covers life history mannequins with costumes ,art works and what ever is in the VAULT then the different displays could be swapped around to the 3 museums during the year to keep them fresh.

I believe Mr. Dali set up his own museum during his lifetime, but he was a bigger gouster than Mr. Bowie.

I'd like to see exhibits revealing his musical processes (the miking setup at Hansa, say, his sketched-in lyrics. I'd like to listen to the successive takes of his greatest songs, to hear what Visconti or Pitt or Rogers was hearing. I'd like to see the storyboards he drew for his videos. Perhaps some of the art he's collected - and the art he'd like to get his hands on (eg. outsider art, Blau Ritter, Tintoretto)

Perhaps also some material on Buddhism and magickal practice, since that's important, too.

Our goal is something like a material representation of the crowded contents of Mr. Bowie's head.
