Bowie Is/Ziggy Japan Tour Question...

I may have misread - but at the NYC Bowie Is show, there was a bit of text that (I thought) stated Bowie took the 1980 Floor Show dancers and costumes with him to tour Japan.

Is this true? I don’t know much about his Ziggy time in Japan. If true, I’d think it must’ve been a pretty great show(s).

Was there Japanese TV footage of this?

Not as far as we know.

Thanks. Yeah, it was an odd little blurb. He would’ve had to take the costumes and dancers with him in April, and the Floor Show wasn’t filmed till October of that year (73).

Maybe he just took some of the outfits with him to Japan, and then decided to use them in the TV special?

Yes, it sounds like someone mixed up the chronology and got things a bit garbled. Maybe they meant that the Kansai Yamamoto costume that Bowie wore for part of 1984 in the Floor Show had been acquired while he was on the Japanese tour? Or that Geoff MacCormack had been a backing singer on the Japanese tour and was part of the Astronettes for the 1980 Floor Show? Mind you, Ava Cherry, also from the Astronettes, said that she met Bowie at Radio City Music Hall and he invited her to come on the Japanese tour, but then he became ill and the tour never happened! So they're not the only ones to get things mixed up on this one, I guess.

That’s pretty interesting. I might hunt around a bit more for some info - but thank you (:
