Oh, also, it was supposedly sapient.

I shouldn't even have to say how awesome this theory is.

As cool an idea as it is, I wish they hadn't mentioned the whole self-portrait thing. It makes a potentially awesome creature sound way less credible.

As much as I would love to believe this, that's a lot of hypothesis from very little evidence.

I was hoping they'd found a fossilized beak or squid pen or something.

There's any number of reasons that those icthyosaurs could've died in the same place, none of which involve making up a blue whale sized intelligent squid. The whole thing is kinda silly. There's a thing pointing out the lack of evidence here.
Bogleech is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In Bogleech you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the Bogleech motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.

Sorry, this is too fucking goofy and there is too little evidence. Sensationalistic labeling and wild jumps in speculation are not convincing to me.

It's definitely possible something like this lived, it's just that this is not convincing proof - too much inferred from too little. Xolta likes Godzilla, but he probably doesn't raise crocodiles in his bathtub and train them to fight in black market betting matches.

Right. This is basically just a more complex version of currently living organisms. The problem here is how ballbustingly theoretical it is.

Well yeah, cephalopods have been around since the late Cambrian, they've had plenty of time to evolve to any size/sentience they want.

Of course, I think that oxygen levels in triassic oceans were pretty low, so it's unlikely for a cephalopod to reach that size unless it had developed a more efficient circulatory system, I think.

Cephalopods are the only mollusks with closed circulatory systems. Or are you referring to the use of less efficient hemocyanin?

oh I see your point. Now if you need me i will be exposing crocodiles to radiation and training them to fight.
