Just to let my class of 65' know, Joe Abraham passed away on July 14th.
His wake and funeral was held in Yonkers - he was 63 and left 3 daughters.
Rest in Peace Joey........

Sorry this is so late. I haven't been on the site for a while. Remember Joey Abraham fondly. Do you remember in 7th or 8th grade when he stepped in between Jeannette MacDonald and Cassandra Norman while they were fighting?

Do I?! Cassandra had ripped Jeanette's blouse halfway off. Eighth grade, back of Room 18.

Anyone that stepped in front of Cassandra Norman was very brave. I was at the other end of her temper once. It wasn't pretty.

I'll tell you my Joey Abraham story. We were in eighth grade and out in the playground, and one of the nuns -- I think it was Francis Eucharia -- ambles over to our group. Joey sees her coming and says "Watch this." He proceeds to engage in casual conversation with her, general topics about his family and stuff, but every sentence he throws in a four-letter word, without blinking. The nun, for whatever reason, just smiles and nods, but the rest of us are busting a gut trying not to lose it. He had brass balls, Joey did.

That's because she was partially deaf. I did ask her once if she had a pet penguin, really. She heard me and said
"Why in the world would I have a pet penguin?" Everybody had to restrain themselves from laughing on that one.
