After all the crashes and strange behavior of my trusty Slow Stick, I kept seeing the tail wagging at times.  So I replaced the old tail section.  Yep - finally retired tail #1 and built a new one.
This time - real hinges instead of just tape.

Finally took it out to try today - so here's the "first" flight with the new tail section.  Everything else only has one flight on it - so in reality the whole plane is new.

And.  It.  Flew.  GREAT.  Finally - it felt "normal" - not like something could slip up and crash at any time.  Nice and solid.
Pilot?  Not so much.  Haven't been flying much and am kind of rusty.  OK.  OK.   Corny opening.....   but - why not have some fun with it?

Anyhoo - I think I finally have a reliable Slow Stick back now.  If you watch closely at the intro, you can see the crack in the tail boom running between the holes (about 0:19.)  The bottom of the tube is cracked and shredded even worse.  No wonder the tail was wagging around.   That whole rear boom was no doubt flopping back and forth once it saw wind loads.

After flying my new ParkMaster a few times, I could never get the aileron roll rates I wanted.  I kept working on it, but the ailerons were just soooo stiff that the servos couldn't move them far enough.  So, a couple of months ago, I just cut off the ailerons and installed some nylon pinned hinges.  Boy do they move freely now - and a LOT.  But this stupid psoriasis has put me down so badly that I just haven't had a chance to get out to fly very much - and hadn't had a chance to test my repair/modification.
But today was really nice - turned out to be a bit breezy at the field but a nice steady wind.  So I gave it a quick test.  It rolls nicely now - flies good.  I think I finally have all the "new plane" tweaks done and have it flying like I want.  It really is a nice flying little airplane.  But, BOY AM I RUSTY!  Woo hoo.  I didn't want to try pushing it too much.

I took my Radian out to Chandler today to try and get some fall colors.  The colors are pretty much at their peak here in town, but looks like it's past peak in the country.  All I got was mostly rust colors.
But, the last time I flew this I had a bad vibration.  I replaced the propeller and nose hub assembly.  That appears to have pretty much corrected it.
I also spied another airplane on the ground over by the kiddie park!  ;-)

Yup - still have my little .495 tube!  Don't use it much anymore though - after enough stun dart hits I think I finally about trained the neighbor's cats to stay away from my yard and wildlife!  ;-)
