I've gone from being Olympic sceptic to Olympic fan. What a day of performances from the GB team, culminating in the long jump, 10,000 (which was electric), and of course our very own Jess Ennis. It was plain that she would win the Gold before the race stared, but knowing that she had a 15 second advantage, and being overtaken on the last bend, I thought, here we go, she'll just cruise home in fifth. But to kick again, and outrun the rest was a moment of pure sporting magic. What a star!

Just goes to show that despite all the over-commercialisation, the Olympics as a sporting even is still shining through, and we have done the Olympics as well as anyone...

Agreed DD.

I have been critical about the rampant commercialism, but last night was one which had me glued to my set. Let's not forget Murray and Robson, either.

For the pessimists in us, at least the GB football team didn't let us down....

so which letter box has been painted gold for Jessica? possibly one in Fitzallan Sq?
we have one here in Bedford--thanks to Etienne Stott. Queen Victoria was born in Stotfold--just down the road. Long Jump champion from MK so there will be a golden post box there too.
Brilliant perormance by Murray so a golden post box for Dumblane.
easily the best Olympics of all time.
