The following year the Goldkette band had Bix and played opposite Vincent Lopez's band.

A Comparison:
Jean Goldkette's orchestra recorded "A Lane in Spain" on Feb 3, 1927 -a Bill Challis arrangement with the Revellers on vocal.
Vincent Lopez's orchestra recorded "A Lane in Spain" on Apr 9, 1927 -with the Keller Sisters and Lynch on vocal.

I remind you that the Ivy Ball took place on May 6, 1927, not long after the two bands had recorded the tune composed in 1926 by Al Lewis and Carmen Lombardo.

Here are the recordings by

Vincent Lopez https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1VBG1dXTvQ

Jean Goldkette https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxGvpSjDfiw

I wonder if one or the other band (or both or neither) played the tune at the ball..
