Dan Hayes, Bix Museum board member, is preparing a brochure for the museum. Here is one of the photographs in the brochure.
We all know that the Wolverines with Bix had an engagement at the Cinderella Ballroom beginning on Sep 12, 1924. This photo shows the marquee with the name of the Wolverines.
The photo is fascinating in many respects. Save it to your computer and enlarge it. You will see an ad for Arthur Murray, the Strand Theater showing a Harold Lloyd film, the Winter Garden, etc, etc. I could spend hours examining the photo.
I am grateful to Dan for sending me a good quality scan and permission to post it here.
These are the post-Bix Wolverines.
A Bix fan writes:
"The Harold Lloyd movie showing at the Strand Theatre is "Hot Water" which, according to the IMDB, was released on 26 Oct 1924. As Bix left the Wolverines on 10 Oct 1924, I conclude that Bix was not present in the band at the time of the photograph."
Good deduction, Sherlock!
I was able to partially decipher the Arthur Murray poster:
