The difference is UCI's serving.  The best we've served all year with 7 aces to 3 serving errors.

We're outblocking the taller team 20 to 10.

Haley and Harlee's serves are staying above the net, which is good.

Our blocking is able to get into position a lot faster tonight, although not perfect.

Pepperdine with a RPI of 76 is a big win.

Idara stepped up with 9 blocks.

It's more like a bad loss for Pepperdine than a good win for us, since we're already out of the NCAA at large picture.
But this win is something good to build upon.
Fresno State will be a challenge as they've been the past few seasons. They have a winning record again and a neutral win at Walter would be nice. If the team can finish nonconf play this week 6-6, they could do well in league play, but it's a tough schedule to start off league play.
at UCSB (6-3) Hawaii (4-3) and UC Davis (7-2) at LBSU (6-4) is a tough stretch to start league play.

What are you talking about?  a bad loss is to a team with a RPI outside the top 100.  Our RPI is now at 63.  Not even close to a bad loss for Pepperdine.

Who says we're already out of the NCAA at large picture?   at RPI 63 we're at striking distance with 8 top 100 RPI teams left to play.

You need to stop making assumptions that are not supported by the data.

Bake was a bad loss, but you can survive just 1 bad loss.

Bake's RPI 172.  But it will improve after Bake sweeps RPI 81 Ucsb 3-0 tonight???  Terrible result.  If Ucsb's RPI tanks they kinda bring down the entire conference with them.
