IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's volleyball team will take part in a three-country Asian tour Aug. 29-Sept. 17.

"I am grateful to our administration, our alumni, our donors and everyone involved in allowing us to move forward with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," head coach David Kniffin said.

UC Irvine has participated in several international tournaments, but this will be the first pre-season trip to Asia and the longest international trip in the program's history.

The tour starts in Seoul, South Korea where the Anteaters will scrimmage the Korean Air Jumbo Jets and the Hyundai Skywalkers.

The squad will then travel to Osaka, Japan on Sept. 2 for a day of sightseeing before taking on Panasonic Panthers. A trip to Tokyo will give UCI a chance to train and play at KEIO University.

The tour wraps up in Shanghai, China beginning Sept. 14 where UCI will participate in several competitions.

The four-time national champion Anteaters return four All-Americans (Scott Stadick, Karl Apfelbach, Aaron Koubi, Joel Schneidmiller), while adding the nation's No. 1 recruit Jonny Bowles.

"I expect greatness from this group of UC Irvine ambassadors from the first day of training all the way through our debrief upon return. This is not a tour nor a vacation. This is a business trip and the first phase of our 2019 campaign," Kniffin ended.

Why is everybody going to Seoul? Maybe while they are there, they can tell Samsung to fix their fricking software.
