Update on this fascinating story. Some revelations as Van Tol gave a brief update last month:
- They'll open up their inaugural season on the road in warmer climate. One lucky program whose identity remains undisclosed gets to host Boise State on opening day Feb 14, 2020. I hope it's Hawaii.
- MWC teams starting in 2020 will play more non-conference games (increases from the present max of 26 games to 35 games max in 2020) as their conference format changes to playing each member one series annually as opposed to most twice annually (decreases from the present 30 games to 21 conference games in 2020).
- Blue turf idea gaining traction.
- On recruiting: "The original plan was to bring in a full roster of players in the fall of 2019, but Van Tol said many of the high school seniors he’s talked with said they would rather come to Boise State and redshirt next season instead of going to play one season at a junior college." Okay this might be disturbing for Hawaii. We're not a JC but Hawaii just signed 2 Idahoans to its 2019 class. Will thievery take place?
