Medjo has received his full release from his NLI and will be looking at other schools. Not much of a loss with Mading coming in. Best of luck to him.

Kentucky forward and Auckland native Tai Wynyard was granted his full release today. He hardly suited up for Calipari due to injuries and suspension. He is a big, athletic forward at 6’9”. Perhaps Coach Patrick can convince him to come to Riverside? He already redshirted his first year, so he’d be a sit one, play one barring any medical hardship waivers.

Another Aussie has committed to be a Highlander. Coach Patrick has nabbed a commitment from 6’5” guard Dragan Elkaz, who has been a member of Australia’s U17 squad the last couple of years. He is known for his scoring, and dropped 25 points (18 in the second half) to single-handedly advance his team over a pretty good Bosnia squad in last year’s FIBA World Championships. They finished in 5th after a close loss to Spain, but he definitely held his own. He averaged over 20 points in his last season in Australia, so we’ll see how that translates to Big West basketball.

Jayvon Brown will be transferring out, which opens up a scholarship. He was a non-factor last season due to a leg injury and was limited to mop-up duty when he did play. The injury was very unfortunate; I wish him the best of luck.

Has our coach ever been to Riverside yet?  I don't get why his press conference has been delayed for 4 weeks after the hiring announcement, 4 weeks after TCU was bounced out of the tourney.

I’m sure he has been on campus. Judging by the recent offers and commitments, I would guess he’s been in Australia recruiting a bit though. But it’s not like the AD is ever doing her job on campus anyway, so perhaps he is taking a page out of her book.

Coach Patrick has at least been fairly close to campus, as he has offered 6’3” guard Elijah Harkless out of Etiwanda HS. He is considered by some to be the best unsigned guard on the west coast. He currently holds offers from LBSU & CSUN as well. Hopefully he has some desire to want to stay in the IE and help start a new chapter in UCR basketball history.

I’m reading that he is a good athlete and a lock-down defender at the HS level. He often guards the opposing team’s best player no matter the position. He’s led his team to a 30 win season with only 4 losses, so he is clearly a winner. I would love for him to bring his grit to Riverside.

Committed to Northridge last night.

I love the recruits Patrick as pull in already though. The team needed athleticism and shooting on the wings and he got that big time with Mading and Dragan.

Too bad about Harkless, but UCR's got a decent group of guards.  The team is going to be much better from outside with the new additions for sure.

UCR got another verbal from Callum McRae (New Zealand) - looks like a bit of a project, played limited minutes in the U19 World Cup.  But 7'2" centers don't exactly grow on trees. Another Oceania signing!
