I have stayed at Coast Plaza 4 or 5 times (not Priceline stays, but it may still be informative). The hotel is located in Vancouver’s West End, only a couple of blocks from English Bay Beach and the start of the seawall which extends all the way around Stanley Park to downtown. The West End is a bit of a walk from the commercial downtown area but it is a fun neighbourhood with lots of colourful cafés, coffee shops and restaurants. It has a large gay population, as well.

The Coast is a high rise hotel which has some fabulous views of English Bay and the city from upper floors. On lower floors, some traffic or street noise may be noticeable if you have windows open. (Personally, I love windows that open!) The hotel has a large conference level. There are several shops and a full grocery store located in the Mall at street level. The hotel is adjacent to a large fitness centre which guests may access and has underground parking for $8/day.

The rooms vary quite a bit. Most have balconies. Many have kitchens or kitchenettes and some have separate bedrooms. These 1 bedroom suites can be huge compared to newer hotels. The Coast will typically assign a basic room, but you can ask for upgrades such as higher view rooms or the larger rooms with kitchenettes or even the suites. They will probably offer to upgrade you if you pay a bit more, but sometimes this extra charge may only be $20 Cdn.

The staff have usually been terrific. The only downside to this hotel is that it is definitely looking a bit dated in terms of the rooms’ décor. Although the rooms are very clean, the furnishings are looking a bit old, maybe even tired, so for people who want new and trendy, this is not the best place. But if you want a good quality hotel in a great area with a chance of a spacious room and a sunset over English Bay, this is a great bargain at Priceline rates.

Vancouver - Coast Plaza Hotel
I stayed at the Coast Plaza Hotel May 14th- 16th, 2003.

I came into the Vancouver Port and the Coast Plaza was about a 15 minute Cab Drive.

The hotel is very well taken care of and the staff is incredible. Very helpful and nice. The concierge was very helpful also. They also do the money exchange in the hotel with out charging you a fee.

I had a room on the 8th floor, my room did not have central air conditioning it had an air conditioning machine you turned on and it was the size of a small stove and you would control the air from there. The kitchen had a refrigerator and was well stocked with knives, forks, etc.

The bathroom was very nice with a shower cap and skin lotions.

The hotel has a restaurant inside and I didnt eat the food but I did have a drink at the bar which was very nice.

The hotel is not close to Canada Place its about a 40 min walk. We pretty much walked around and saw a lot. Stanley Park & the Aquariam was about a 20 minute walk.

I really enjoyed the hotel and thought it was very nice. I paid $55.00 US and thought it was well worth it.

We spent one night at the Coast on April 5, and found it to be very comfortable and accomodating. The staff was very helpful, and the shuttle driver suggested we drop our rental car off a day early, and he went to the airport to pick us up.
We ate at the restaurant right there, and found it to be an excellent and reasonable place to spend the last night of a vacation. Not sure it's 3* quality, but what do I know?Image Image Image

Extremely friendly desk agent (Hugh) allowed us to check in early and gave us a choice of an 18th floor suite with a bay view or a 26th floor suite with a city view. We chose the bay view and it was beautiful. The room is very large with kitchen, living area with sleeper sofa, one queen bed, and a great balcony. I think the west end is the best place to be in vancouver so we loved this hotel. We stayed here on 9/1/04 for $63.

I think Jaybee's review (above) has been mis-placed here. I believe he/she's referring to the Coast property out at the airport.

Just got back and would highly recommend this hotel. The location is awesome, the room[suite?] was huge, full kitchen, couch and large balcony with wicked ocean views. There was even free internet, $25 per night parking in well-guarded hotel lot. We would happily stay there again through priceline.
