Any insight as to what location in TA their 4 star hotels are. For instance as a leisure traveler I want to be on the strip. As a businesman I may want to be in the diamond center. I only want the beach so if I win an inner city hotel I am doomed.

Since there is no zone map, it can be anywhere in Tel Aviv. If you aren't flexible, Priceline is not a good option. When price is most important, Priceline is the way to go.
If you decide to use Priceline, please start your bid through the Priceline link at the Amazing-Bargains.com site linked in my signature.

I was there in Jan+Feb but unable to win a PL bid .
Saw many fine fairly new oceanview hotels near the now luxurious well-established Dan Hotel on Hayarkon St.
Even if you end up in Ramat Gan it is not that far to the beach area-perhaps 3 miles ?
Please post details if you were able to get a stay using Pl as hope to return one of these days-thanks

you do not want to end up in Ramat Gan. if there are no zones you can get the new Crown Plaza which is in a good location when it comes to traffic but very bad location if you want to go down to the beach. the hotels in Ramat Gan are nice, but you will have to take a taxi to the beach and a taxi if you want to go out at night, so saving some money will cost you in taxis (each taxi ride will cost less than 10$).
Enjoy tel aviv, it is a great city and the beach is amazing!!!!!
