EWR Compact, National 10/22-10/23/2011 $20

First $20 bid for mid-size was rejected. Total is $38.51. National's web site total is $112.31, correctly quoted by Priceline (65% discount, but I would never have booked it - Priceline advertises "save up to 40%"). Hotwire for a compact on the same date shows $47.48 all in.

<t>The inforrmation about the rental cars from Priceline is not available without an accepted bid for that area. Since I was tracking prices, I decided to share the specific information, since I would appreciate it from others.  I've made it a policy to post hotel results if I use information from y...

SFO - observations and comparisons

<t>I am renting for a week in mid-March from SFO. I have a hotel booked through a bid and this includes information on the lowest acceptable bids for cars and I've been following the rates. They lowest I've seen for the week is $14 per day and it jumped around sizes (Full, Standard, Economy Midsize,...

<t>The Pointe Hiltons in the North Phoneix zone are both excellent hotels. They haven't appeared in a while. The Tapatio is near the expressway and it's easy to get to Scottsdale and to the airport. Have a great stay. It is a tricky zone because there are only low star properties and the resort so y...

OP: based on your experience you owe the world a positive review of the motel on Tripadvisor, mentioning your concern based on the previous reviews. Glad it worked out!

<t>The bonus process may be more complex. A $10 bonus is twice as much in terms of percentage on a $40 bid as on an $80 one. I had a room in Honolulu that I got for $75 + 10 bonus and others had to go much higher without  a bonus, so it was real. It's clear from Catlover that bidding $30 for a $40 r...

Using number of reviews as a tip-off

<t>Priceline always asks for a review by email after a hotel stay. Apparently many people respond. When you go to the open site of Priceline you can see hotel listing with reviews. The number of reviews is always listed and is highly variable. Some hotels have hundreds or thousands of reviews while ...

No resort fee

<t>I was at the nearby Hilton and there was no compulsory resort fee. There is a parking fee of $15 for self-park and I think the deal is the same at the Marriott. The Hilton offers various resort fees with specific benefits. I believe that the State of Hawaii is pressuring for the end of the compul...
