Well, here we go again. Once again, Hotwire beats Priceline. Parc 55 had a rate of $161 on these dates, so I figured there should be SOME kind of availability there. PL initially had a 4* Exp. Deal for $114, but when I clicked on it, it gave me the infamous "inventory changes" message. I checked Hotwire, and here was this $104 4* which I figured was probably the Parc 55, or maybe even the Grand Hyatt. I bid up to $104 for a 4* on PL in USW, USE, and SOMA. Rejected. Also 3.5* for $99. So I went ahead and booked Hotwire. Bingo! Hotwire does a much better job of masking the identity of their hotels; they don't list the retail price of the actual hotel you're booking, but of comparable hotels. I felt comfortable with the lower certainty level (versus PL) because it had a 90% positive rating. I've actually always wanted to stay here, too.
I wonder if this is going to be a trend--PL costing more than Hotwire?

This forum should only be used when Hotwire was able to beat Priceline for a comparable hotel since Hotwire's ratings do not always correlate with Priceline's ratings. Posts that do not meet this criteria will be removed.
