Another Priceline question........Is it possible that if I would have waited several months before bidding, Marriott's
inventory would not have offered this deal? Both your site and Better Bidding suggested I was bidding too early but I went against the
grain and bid very far out from the date I needed. Doesn't it really depend more on circumstances/events.......school holidays, graduation weekends, festivals, etc.?

That is a very popular Spring Break week in the U.S. People who live in San Juan probably won't need a hotel there.

It's likely that this deal will be shortlived and that you wouldn't have gotten this great deal in a few months or later.  In general, it depends on a lot of factors, most of which are only known to the hotel.

I was successful in getting the Marriott Stellaris (resort category/zone 8) for 3/18/12 to 3/22/12 at $115.
I've now decided to extend my time in PR four more days.

I never see La Concha come up even though it is the only 4* listed on most bidding sites.
If I bid on a 4* and no 4* properties are available......what happens?

Thanks,
Marty

If you bid on 4* and there are no 4* properties available for those dates in that neighborhood, then your offer will be refused. HOWEVER, if there are Resort* or 5* properties available, and if they are willing to accept your price, then you may be upgraded to one of those. This is not uncommon. You should also look at the list rates for potential Resort* properties, so that you don't overbid.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are happy with the hotel and price you already won, it is sometimes possible to extend that stay for a number of days either before or after, up to as many days as you have already booked. This is done from your confirmation page when you are logged in to Priceline, and viewing your original booking. There is a button for "extend your stay". This function will guarantee the same hotel and the same price, but only if the hotel has vacancy for the period you want to extend into.

Also, be aware that the list rate may be LOWER for the days you want to add, and so you might get the best deal by starting an entirely new offer on Priceline, although you risk winning a different hotel.

Please always remember to start your bidding through Our Priceline Link either in a moderator's signature line, or from one of the Priceline links here in the pages of BFT, and never from an email you receive from Priceline. Thank you!

Please always keep all posts for a single stay on one topic. Since your winning bid was more than 30 days ago, you cannot use the extend stay feature. This will require a completely new bid. Please post your new request as a reply to this topic. And be sure to re-read the Hotel FAQ before you say you've read it because you obviously missed the part about upgrades.

Please place your Priceline/Hotwire bids/purchases through the link in my signature or by clicking the Priceline/Hotwire banners on the right side of the screen. And please keep Priceline in mind for your conventional travel bookings as well.

Sheryl.....Thanks for the lecture.......This was a separate question for a separate stay on a separate topic........I only inquired about a 4* bid which KeenWink nicely answered......I did not inquire about extending my previous stay........I only asked because I have never seen a winning 4* bid and wanted to find out if anyone won La Concha or any 4*.......

You did say you were extending your time in Puerto Rico and my post wasn't a lecture. Any hotel that is listed on the Hotel List has been won on a bid posted here but 4* acceptances without an upgrade happen very infrequently.

This is also addressed in our Hotel FAQ so you should read that which you said you did on your Bidding Assistance Request.
