Stayed at the property on Saturday night 7/31/04. I think I would have been more pleased with a college dorm.

The hotel is in the middle of nowheresville, when it comes to Crabtree Valley Mall. It is in a heavily-wooded area reminiscent of Scream and Scream 2.

The hotel staff might as well have been zombies. Zero willingness to help (Internet, phone service instructions)!

The room was sparse and looked like a modified office. My wife called it "hotel hell." Needless to say we won't be staying at this hotel, nor this zone anytime soon!

This hotel has been downgraded to 1*. -Sheryl

I got this property for a $25 bid on a Sunday. I saw the reviews (here and TripAdvisor) were less than stellar, so I was prepared for the worst. What I encountered was far from the worst, but there were some small flaws.

The main problem was the previous guest smoked in the non-smoking room. One small burn mark on the floor and one on the bed spread. There was a strong hint of cleaning solution in the air, but that dissipated as I opened and reopened the room door to unload the car. With the air cleared, it was a matter of tossing the bed spread aside (I don’t like heavy covers anyway) and simply ignoring the small mark on the carpet. Except for leaving the bed spread, they did OK in making the room acceptable after it had been smoked in.

Everything else was in clean and working condition. Clean sheets, clean bathroom, clean kitchen except for one missed wrapper deep in a cupboard corner, and everything worked. There was no noise coming through the walls, no parties outside, and no hint of the traffic noise on US-70 just up the hill. There are no restaurants within a five minute walk, but plenty within a five minute drive, and there were some grocery stores in the same radius for stocking the fridge. Unlike a lot of other properties, the small clock/radio actually picked up some radio stations, so I got to wake up to music instead of a buzzer. The staff was pleasant and efficient at check in/out. There was no mention of P/L, no hint of second class status.

This property met my admittedly basic standards, and I’d go back.

In terms of quality of the room, this is the worst place I've stayed with through PL. The room seemed not to have been cleaned. There were cig butts in the ashtray (in what was supposed to be a NS room), used condoms in the garbage, and the shower had been used and the soap unwrapped. I was not at all comfortable there, although I seemed to assure myself that the bed had not been used. I paid $30 via PL plus the usual fees, so I don't find this dirty room to have been a good deal at all.

The hotel is in an isolated wooded setting about a mile west of Crabtree Mall. The setting is actually very pretty and would have been suitable for a higher grade hotel like a Courtyard. The downside of being surrounded by tall trees is that I could never establish a highspeed connection and my cellphone didn't work at the hotel either.

The room is exactly like every other Homestead room I've stayed at. Unlike others I felt that my room had been cleaned. The shower head was broken though, hanging loose on it's stem and pointing straight downwards at the drain. I had to hold the shower head up with one hand to aim the water on myself.

Checkin took 20 minutes due to some snafu between Priceline and the hotel. The clerk had to call Priceline three times to get things straight.

This isn't the worst Homestead I've stayed at but since there are so many nicer hotels in the Crabtree area I'll go for 2* or higher in the future.

p.s. Priceline has downgraded this hotel from 2* to 1*.

I just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. I won with a bid  of $30 night. I was concerned after reading the other reviews because I did not expect to get this hotel with my bid for a 2* hotel. The hotel has been upgraded to 2* and I have to say I was satisfied with my stay. The desk attendant was pleasant and the room was clean. An added bonus was the microwave, fridge, and stove-top. I would be happy to stay here again for the price I paid (or even a little more).
