Maybe Savana B should come to BiddingForTravel.com for her Priceline training.

I stayed in a 3* Sierra Suites in Sierra Vista, AZ on 11/1/13 on a Express Deal that GUARANTEED a hotel at that star level would have a restaurant. This particulary hotel did not, unless they wanted to count the 6am to 9am Hot breakfast bar. I think a restaurant should mean a restaurant. We chose that star level because we didn't want to eat down the road (too old, too tired to drive at night). I checked this hotel afterward on Expedia and they didn't indicate a restaurant. The only thing within walking distance was a Mexican Restaurant. We'll see if Priceline will back this guarantee, if I can figure out how to contact them.

On Express Deals, Priceline will only guarantee the specific amenities that are listed on the Express Deal. For 3* hotels in general, Priceline hasn't required a restaurant in at least two years.

Thanks Cheryl. Yet if you link to the Express Deals, after typing Sierra Vista, the dates and hitting "enter" you are directed to a "searching" page that indicates amenities are guaranteed. Once the search is completed, the Hotels available are listed by quality and zone, with all the universal symbols of the amenities offered. When I booked my 3* Sierra Vista Express Deal on Nov 1st, and again when I searched this morning, the symbols included the "knife and fork" and hovering my cursor over the symbol it read "restaurant". After speaking to Priceline reps this morning, they refused to honor the guarantee. But I did see this afternoon, the "knife and fork" symbol has been removed from the amenities listed under 3* hotels in this town. So a moral victory is all I get. I'll tell people I Love BFT, but not Priceline! haha.

I am confused with your first sentence Priceline doesn't indicate the name of the hotel for any of their Name Your Own Price products, of which Express Deals are one. As to the knife and fork icon, what prevails is what is listed when you click on the actual Express Deal. They also list Internet and when you click on it, it says Internet in public areas only. I agree this is deceptive but at least they do list the actual amenities when you click on the Express Deal. Same thing with Pets Allowed. It often lists the weight limit and if there is an extra charge.

Sheryl, what you're referring to is different. Priceline does provide additional details about certain amenities when you click on the Express Deal. Having an amenity disappear entirely when you click through is quite different; this would only be possible if the hotel being offered had changed.

Unfortunately, Devilsnest1, I don't know if there's any way to determine what amenities were guaranteed for the particular Express Deal you purchased. What I do know is that no restaurant icon appeared when I did the search yesterday, shortly after you reported the Express Deal. The reason you may have seen the restaurant icon this morning is that there are two 3* hotels in Sierra Vista: the Windemere Hotel, which has a restaurant, and the Sierra Suites, which does not. The identity of the hotel being offered through Express Deals can change at any time.

Hey thanks guys! To clariy the confusion with Sheryl, when I posted "the Hotels available are listed by 'quality and zone' ", I purposely left out "name", because as we all know, Priceline doesn't reveal the name until booked on a NYOP or Express deals. But they do list the universal icons for amenities right below the star level. I chose that property primarily on the star level, but also because "knife and fork" icon was shown.

TilePusher, your hunch is probably right about the hotel changing. I was aware the Windemere property was also available. Maybe it was a switch, because I went to the express deals this morning while preparing this response. My first request resulted in a 3* offering in Sierra Vista WITH restaurant for $52. Five minutes later I tried again and it came back with a 3* offering in Sierra Vista WITHOUT restaurant for $36...same night! I'm betting they switched from the WIndemere to the Sierra Suites. Thats WILD! Appreciate the assistance, as always!
