Hi,
So I've been bidding for a 5* hotel in Singapore (Orchard Rd and City Hall/Marina) for some time now.
I'm using all my free rebid zones, and working with small increases in the bidding every day.
Still no luck...

I'm bidding for the period July 14th to July 17th.

Lowest rates at the hotels are:

City Hall/Marina:
Conrad Centennial - 253US$
Fairmont - 241US$
Pan Pacific Singapore - 171$
Intercontinental - 172US$

Orchard Rd:
Marriott - 280US$
Hilton - 227US$

Today my highest bid was 89US$.

I've noticed that the Conrad has been going for about 80$ recently, but I have no idea what the lowest rate was at the
time, since the dates are in the past. Also I realize that I'm checking in midweek, which could turn out to be a problem,
as well as the fact that this is holiday season.

So here's my question. Am I bidding to far in advance and should I wait for at least 2-4 weeks before bidding again?
Or should I just increase my bids even more?
I don't really have a max, as long as the price is better than the lowest available rate elsewhere;-)

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Best regards,
Lars

Lars, I'm looking for 2 rooms at Orchard for June 9-12 and no luck for me either. My latest bid of $141 was rejected yesterday. I've added Bugis and Financial District along with Orchard. To the best of my knowledge there are no 5 stars in Bugis or Financial. That 5 star Conrad is supposed to be great also but its a little from from my Orchard hang outs so I've only bid $70 for City Hall/Marina properties.

I'm uncertain about dropping to 4 stars since some of those Holiday properties have poor reviews despite being 4 stars. I'm guessing two rooms is harder to find than one in a busy area like Orchard in Singapore. I'm new to priceline and would welcome any comments that might help either me or Lars.

Looking for 1 room in Orchard, 5-star, from July 7-13. Been at it for 2 weeks now slowly inching up. Rejected today at $80 US. The areas you can safely add are East Coast, and Financial as Priceline doesn't seem to have any 5-stars in those areas.

Still looking for a room for the dates mentioned in the title.
I've now bid up to $116 without luck.
I just got the Conrad Centennial for the dates 7/30-7/31 for $113, but I guess it'll take a higher
bid to get a 5* hotel for the other period.

I've thought about bidding for a 4*, eventhough the reviews of the Holiday Inn Atrium on BFT are bad.
I looked at tripadvisor.com, and the last 10 reviews of that hotel is actually really good. The newst review
on BFT is from 2004, and a lot of improvement can happen in 6 years.
If anybody here stayed at one of the 4* hotels recently could you please offer some advice?

Thanks, Lars

kjj005er: With regards to free rebid zones at 5* level, both East Coast, Financial and Riverside will work.
Only Orchard, City Hall/Marina Bay and Bugis are listed as having 5* properties, so the 3 other zones are
the free rebid zones.

So I've kept on bidding for this stay, and finally got accepted today.
I found out that I had the $10 bonus per night available, so started using that for bidding 3 days ago.
Today bid $135 (+$10 bonus) and got counteroffer of $155 (+$10 bonus) - rejected it.
Added free rebid zones and kept raising with $3 per bid.
Accepted at $144 (+$10 bonus) at the Marriott Singapore... Very happy with my win!!!
Best rate at hotel were $281 per night...

Your bid: $144
+ bonus: $10
Subtotal: $432
Taxes & fees: $94.95
Total: $526.95

Used the AB-link (not sure if it worked though, since I had to log into my account and find the reward page to get the $10 bonus. Really hope it worked anyway).

Hi Larsprop,
Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress and win,  Wins for the Marriott don't come up very often, so consider yourself lucky. The Marriott is in a great location, easy to see for blocks in any direction so easy to find your way back when walking around and I like the open bar/cafe at street level for people watching with a cold one. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting.  Now I know the rates if ever I will plan to have a vacation in Singapore.
