We stayed over Christmas and enjoyed the visit.

This is downtown and most rooms should have a view of the river. It is an older property but in the midst of remodeling (finish date May 07). There are two towers, east which is probably all remodeled and west, which will be finished late spring or summer.

We were given a two room suite which was wonderful, 2 TVs, refrigerator, great view of the river. Christmas meant very few rooms rented and after the entire renovation I suspect Priceline users will get the regular rooms in the west tower. We checked out the west tower and the some rooms will be smaller than others, but it looks as if they will be nicely done and if you are up high, the views will be good (OK, you may have noticed we like a river view.)

Staff was very nice and public areas are good, but like many properties I doubt they are used much.

This is attached to the convention center by hallways. There don't seem to be a tremendous amount of rooms downtown so we haven't been able to get here again until late January.
Parking is underground, it was $9 a day. You are within walking distance of everything downtown and there is access to the park from the pool area.

The main downside I can see is since this is right next to the interstate, lower rooms may have some noise. There is an outdoor pool.

We enjoyed our stay and recommend this to anyone.

First review for the Galt House:

Stayed there one night on 3/3/06. It's a nice old place with a great location. It's two towers right on the river. There is a great looking restaurant with awesome views in one tower. At the top of the other tower is a fitness center. An enclosed walkway connects the East and West tower. There is a bar with flat screen tv's and couches in the walkway. Check out the glass bar that has live fish in it. There's also a large bird cage in that area.

The hotel has been recently renovated (maybe still going on somewhere, but we didn't notice it). We received two rooms on the 21st floor in the West Tower. Nice double bedded, non-smoking rooms. When I called them, they said that's what they normally assign to PL customers. Self parking was $9 and valet was $16. The location was great - very close to the 4th street downtown area with the Hard Rock cafe, etc.

When we arrived, I requested a room that could sleep 5 and Marcus said no deal. He got me a roll away bed for an extra $10, so that was fine. An overall good stay for $45.

Another stay
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ended up with the luck of the draw this visit. Galt House was busier and we ended up in the west tower in an older room.

Bed was fine, new carpet. Old furniture (OK, but lots of dings on the legs), bathroom wasn't remodeled but fine, hot water and good shower if you turned the nozzle all the way open). Told us all rooms will get new furnitue when remodel is finished.

Ask for a west side, but were told it would be an additional $30 (priceline was mentioned). Internet didn't work but they said not all the west tower was rewired yet, supposedly finished in May 06 (wrong date in previous review).

Stay as OK, not was nice as before. Good location if you want downtown but they are beginning to get busier (lots of convention meeting space) and Priceline will get the regular rooms instead of the suites we got at Christmas.

Stayed for one night on 4/15 on a Priceline bid of $50. Priceline was not mentioned at check-in, and the gentleman happily honored my request for a king, non-smoking room.

We were given a room on the 23rd story of the West tower. The room was remodled with new carpet, furniture, and a marble and granite bathroom. The room had a view of the river.

We had planned to have breakfast at one of the the hotel's three restaurants, however, they were only servring brunch. We felt a bit underdressed for Easter brunch, and since we were going to have an Easter lunch with family, decided to pass on a $28pp breakfast.

We were very pleased with our stay, the bed was comfortable (the sheets were a cheap cotton/poly blend), the towels were big and fluffy, and we had and in-room coffee maker with plenty of coffee. Self-parking was $9 per night. For $73.00 with all taxes, fees, and parking, it was a great deal.

We would recommend to anyone visiting Louisville.

All that it was said to be in earlier posts is still true. It is right on the river and when we asked to be placed river view side we were accommodated without problem. Parking is only $6 and available at in their ample parking garage.

Room was nice and the hotel is in a great location. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. Free internet worked fine and the room was quiet even though we were on a lower floor. Bid was accepted at $45.

Garage parking charge is $12 (bring the parking stub to the front desk) only if you charge it to the room. If you wish to pay cash upon exiting the garage it is $14.

At check in, paying through Priceline was loudly mentioned by an unhappy desk clerk. Pointing me to the correct parking entrance was similarly distasteful to this employee. I have used Priceline many times and this was the poorest reception I have ever received at a hotel. The only contact I had with staff members (reception) was awful, but other employees seemed helpful.

You can't beat the location and price, just do not expect Priceline to win you any friends here.

Just stayed at the Galt House this past weekend.  We were given a room on the 16th floor. Although the hotel ammentites classify this hotel as a 3.5, it's a shame they don't clean it very well.   Hallways on multiple floors smelled musty and like anminals.  The room itself had stained worn out bedding (sheets were ok) but the worst was the carpets.  The dust was so thick I bet they never vaccumed up to the walls.  This is not a place I would recommend for someone with Alergies.  The price was ok.  Just not some place I would recommend for a multiple-day stay.
