Checked many airline websites and discounters for a good fare. The average was about $620. see pub4.ezboard.com/fpriceli...1038.topic for discussion.
Bottom line was that I ended up bidding, and Priceline rejecting, a bid of $353 for a seat that ended up costing me $381 on Hotwire (Sheryl, I added $13 dollars to the amount you suggested I bid for a $368 Hotwire ticket).
The flight I got through Hotwire was an AA nonstop flight from LAX to OGG, with pretty good departure times.

Here is where my Priceline/Hotwire utilization came in. I needed a 1-way ticket from DCA to BOS on the afternoon of 9/10. I started doing some research, and the cheapest that I could find was over $250 (nonstop or 1 stop) !!! I then was able to find it for $177 on AA.com if I made it a roundtrip and threw away the return, but this was still high. So, I did some more digging and found nonstop Southwest.com flights from BWI to MHT or PVD for $59 oneway, but these were really inconvenient. She really didn't need a car in DC due to the flying into DCA with good subway connections to downtown, so getting out to BWI would of been more than an hour and a real pain by public transport or supershuttle costing $30 .... The same on the PVD end, getting from PVD to Boston involves taking an hour bus to South Station at a $18 charge.
