Hotwire tries to sell 2* as 2.5* in Pensacola

So the story goes: I buy a 2* thru Priceline in Pensacola for 40/nite plus tax/fees for 4 nights. I read reviews and it is sounding pretty sketchy. If it were just me I wouldn't care, but my elderly parents are going. I look at Hotwire and they have a 2.5* in the same area for 43/nite plus tax/fees, so since I am going with family I figure I will buy and will be close and a better hotel right? Wrong. It's the SAME hotel as I got on PL. Look it up on 6 other travel sites and its a 2* on all but one. On Hotwires OWN SITE, this chain hotel is given as an example of a 2* hotel under "how our ratings work". Call Hotwire and they say so sorry, but you are out of luck, the example is just a point of reference and we don't go by other sites ratings alone. Filed complaint on bbb.org and let Hotwire know this. Got a call the next day and they offered $100 credit. Told them I wasn't really looking for that, but Ill take it and would appreciate it if they would change the star rating so other folks aren't deceived.

This exact same thing happened to us. Based on all the amenities and star level (I was using the star levels shown by Hotwire for each hotel), there was only one hotel the secret rate hotel could be. However, after we bid on it, we got a 2 star hotel that looks a little shady. I tried to find a place to complain, but I think I will just have to call them. I love Priceline and have shown many people how to use it, but I feel completely cheated by Hotwire.
