My goal was to get the Holiday Inn on Silom as I have stayed there before and got it via priceline.com.
I chose to do all of my bidding in early November. lst bid was for $45 and rejected, offered a rebid at $62 and didn't do it. 2nd bid was for $50 offered a rebid at $64 and didn't. 3rd bid for $52 and offered a rebid at $69 and didn't do it. 4th bid at $55 and offered a rebid at $69 and didn't do it. As I have never paid over $50 for the Holiday Inn I was timid to try again but I did a 5th bid at $60 and it was accepted.
Five nights of January 5-9, 2011. $60 and $12 a night in taxes/fees or $72 which is not a big saving from the posted $92 on the web side of Holiday Inn - Bangkok.
When I arrived, however, they had an upgrade on the computer for me and I surprised a priceline.com would qualify to the next higher room. If I wanted to go further and do the executive floor room it would be $40 a night more. I took the freebie and it is a nice room. I asked them their occupancy rate for the day and it was 65%.
