I am new- I have booked only 3 secret deals on priceline and hotwire together- to the bidding sites and I wanted to ask for some help with planning our next trip.We will go to Japan, between 27.03-10.04, which is also the peak season ("cherry blossom" season).
I have booked already 3 nights (27-30.03) on hotwire, on a secret deal advertised as 65% discount for a 5 star hotel in Tokyo, I paid it and it was intercontinental tokyo bay, only 30 euros cheaper- in total- than the value deal of booking.com for the same stay. I saved less than 5% on the official price, felt a bit disappointed, but l guess it's normal during the learning period. In any case, I would prefer not to use hotwire anymore. My questions are:
1. when is it best to bid? Closer to the date or way in advance? Some hotels (e.g. Granvia in Kyoto) told me they would only make the rates for april in september, what does this mean for the bidding strategy?
2.when I will be ready to bid, may I ask more inf on the wards of tokyo/kyoto?
I am really grateful for your replies and time!

Your first question is addressed in #2 of the Hotel FAQ. I recommend that you read the entire thing, though, if you're don't have much experience with Priceline. When you're ready to bid, you can ask us for a bidding strategy by post the information requested in the Bidding Aasistance Form as a reply to this thread. We'll try to answer any questions you may have about bidding for a hotel in Japan, but we don't have a lot of data on this country to work with.
