I respond to bidding-related comments and questions on the board only. I do not respond to bidding-related comments or questions sent by email or private message.

Please understand that if I responded to bidding-related comments or questions or gave bidding strategies privately, there would be no purpose for this forum, and no one else would have the benefit of reading your questions and my answers.

After reviewing the relevant FAQ on BiddingForTravel.com, please post your bidding-related comments and questions to the board in the proper category. In most cases, your answers are found either through entering your bidding parameters on Priceline's website, in the FAQs on this board (that's why we have the announcement at the top of the board) or within the category to which they apply. If something is confusing to you after you have reviewed Priceline's website and checked the resources on the board, then please post on the appropriate board category.

It is also very important to realize that bidding situations and rules change from time to time. If I responded to an e-mail or private message today and my response becomes invalid at a later date, I have no way of communicating that unless my comments appear on this forum and I then have the opportunity to either remove them or update them. Credibility is of paramount importance to me and I would never want any of my comments to be used to anyone's detriment at a later date should they no longer be valid.

I will now reference this post as my reply to your email when receiving bidding-related questions and comments or questions that clearly will be answered either in the FAQs on this board or by entering your bidding parameters on Priceline's website. Please do not consider a non-personal response as rude.

If they aren't found there, please post on BiddingForTravel.com where you will receive a reply from an Administrator or a Moderator.

Thank you for understanding.

Please be specific in the subject line if you email me as I receive so much spam, that I often delete email without even opening it. If you just put Priceline in the subject line, I'll be sure to read your email.

A situation that presented itself today warrants an update to this post.

I received a private message from one of our users who feels the hotel he received does not merit the rating Priceline assigned to the hotel. He has made his feelings about this known on his winning bid post. A response was given by another member who attempted to get a refund as a result of a winning bid at the same hotel. That other member has been unsuccessful in his attempt with Priceline.

The private message says:
Quote:
I didn't want to advertise this to everyone -- but Priceline gave me a chance to cancel my reservation for the [name of hotel omitted]. They said they stand by their rating, but still offered the refund. Do you think I should cancel? I am more concerned about the condition of the hotel than the price.

Thanks for your input!!
I responded asking him to post this on the board, to which he replied:
Quote:
I have shared all the information I feel is appropriate
Quite honestly, I am aghast at this behavior. Here is someone who knows others are similarly situated, yet refuses to share this information. This is an extreme form of selfishness, not to mention a waste of my time as the Administrator of this forum.

I devote a tremendous amount of time helping people learn how to effectively use Priceline, for many more hours in a day than most people spend at their jobs, yet there are people who expect me to treat them with extra attention, robbing my time of helping the community as a whole.

Despite the following message displayed to the user when they click on the Contact Administrator link:

Please note that I respond to bidding related questions on the board only, not by e-mail, so familiarize yourself with our FAQs and Posting Guidelines, then post in the relevant category. If you email me and do not receive a response, that means your issue should be posted on the board. If you are having difficulty registering a screen name or with any other login issue, please click on the Help link near the top of the board. I am unable to assist with these issues. Thank you.
I receive emails everyday with questions or comments such as:

I got this hotel but I don't feel like registering so you can post it? [no I won't]

Is there anyway I can get X hotel because I don't want Y hotel?

Priceline won't refund my money and I just can't go. Can't you help me?

What is a free re-bid?

I can't remember my password. Can you send it to me?

I'd like to sell my Priceline reservation. How can I do that?

and on and on...

Every one of these questions or comments is either addressed in our FAQs or in the message that appears when they attempt to email me.

BiddingForTravel.com is a wonderful resource with a tremendous amount of information, most of which is provided by our users, but I hope everyone will recognize that without Jenniann's, Arrzee's and my administration of this resource, it would become chaotic and the value would be diminished considerably.

Please respect our time, take advantage of the resources available and most importantly, when you have something that will benefit another member of this community, post it.

From this point forward, I reserve the right to post any information sent to me privately either through email or the private message system, with the exclusion of any personally identifiable information such as your real name or Priceline Request Number.

My credibility has been compromised by the fact that some people choose to clarify their posted comments by sending me comments privately that they do not post on the board, which prevents me from having the opportunity to defend my comments publicly. I will no longer allow this to happen, thus this new policy.

If people choose to disregard my policy of not accepting emails and private messages regarding bidding-related matters, they must accept that their privately communicated comments may not be private.

And please keep in mind that BiddingForTravel.com is not Priceline Customer Service. Please direct Priceline customer service and technical issues directly to Priceline.

And why is it so rare that when I respond that I reply to bidding related questions on BiddingForTravel only, that person never posts their question on BiddingForTravel? I guess you think you are someone special even though we do not know each other.
