Please note that discussions pertaining affinity programs (airline frequent flyer and hotel frequent stayer programs) will no longer be allowed in the general categories or hotel reviews section within this board, as they do not contribute anything to our goal of making us informed bidders. In fact, they might hurt us all instead, as Priceline's T&Cs clearly state that frequent flyer points and/or hotel stay credits are not to be accrued on products purchased through them. If individual hotels and/or airlines have inadvertently allowed credits for priceline stays and/or trips, they should be treated as bonuses or a fluke, not as a right or a future expectation. Hotels and/or airlines viewing these type of posts might reconsider their participation with priceline, as they would conclude that priceline customers are abusing these perks, which clearly they are not entitled to.

Further, discussions pertaining ways to maximize usage of these programs to attain room upgrades and or "preferred" flight bonuses are not allowed.

Finally, the Frequent Guest Programs category within the board will remain open to general questions and discussions that add value to our goal of becoming informed bidders, but will also be monitored for compliance with this policy.

In fact, I have become aware that at least one major hotel chain does have an employee who monitors the postings on this board on a regular basis and I suspect that, at least in part, one of the recent changes we've seen is due to his knowledge gleened from this board. I strongly feel that some of the mistreatment Priceline users experience is due to those before them who have abused the restrictions they agreed to when using Priceline.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It could have been written for this topic...

I have removed the following from a hotel review that was posted on this board. This is exactly the mindset that causes those of us who leave our affinity cards at home when we are on Priceline stays, to be treated in an inferior manner by some hotel employees:

"The only unpleasantness had nothing to do with PL, and more to do with the attitude of the check in staff. I'm a HiltonHonors (which includes DoubleTree) Gold VIP member. Now I'm not necessarily expecting an upgrade with a PL res, but I didn't think it was too out of line to just ask. The clerk immediately waved at my card, saying that's not worth anything here. Now, the hotel was NOT completely booked (I checked w/both the national & local resv #s) both the day before and after checking in. Having spent YTD close to $5,000 at Hitlon/Doubletree hotels, to have a policy NOT to even try to upgrade a frequent customer, when the cost is NEGLIGIBLE and the good will conferred is immeasurable, is counter productive. My feeling is, if a hotel resents me/my business & treats me as second class due to a PL reservation, then the hotel SHOULD NOT participate in Price Line reservations, PERIOD!Image:"> (Concomitantly, if a hotel could not sell lesser rooms or don't comply with the rating for the hotel, they shouldn't sell these to PL customers).

After some haggling the following morning we were given one breakfast coupon; haggled some more for a second coupon, as there were 2 in the room. By the way, complimentary breakfast IS a given Hilton Honors Gold VIP benefit, not up to the largesse of a check in clerk. Obviously I will be writing to Hilton Honors regarding this."

With an attitude like that, he shouldn't be using Priceline at all. He has shown no loyalty whatsoever to Hilton by choosing to use Priceline for this stay.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Arrzee and I are making note each time this board policy is challenged. We are considering removing the Frequent Guest Programs section of the board altogether, so consider that each time you challenge this policy, that takes us one step closer to making any mention whatsoever of the subject matter off topic for this message board and the Administrators will remove any such posts with no further warning.
