First, I want to stress that this is one report only and one report doesn't necessarily indicate a trend. I'll be monitoring for similar comments.
A regular Priceline user/member of BiddingForTravel.com reported that an Express Deal which appeared through the Priceline mobile app was higher than the retail rate of the hotel she pegged as the identity of the Express Deal hotel. She then checked the Express Deal on her computer (foregoing the mobile app) and the rate was so much lower that it was cheaper to purchase the Express deal on her computer than the mobile app with a 10% discount code.
The moral here is to never assume the mobile app (with or without a discount code) is the best deal. It also reiterates what I've said repeatedly that hotel rate research should always be the primary means of determining your bidding strategy, and the Express Deal price should always be secondary. Nothing trumps pre-bidding rate research.
