So I'm doing some research for staying in Dana Point next month and noticed some slight differences (i.e. additional hotels) vs the list in the hotel thread.

5*
Ritz-Carleton, Laguna Niguel

St. Regis Monarch Beach

3*
Residence Inn DP-SJC
DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach

2.5*
Best Western Plus Marina Shores (Probably this one too in Express Deals)

2*
Quality Inn & Suites Oceanview
Capistrano Seaside Inn
Capistrano SurfSide Inn

I also pulled up at least 19 hotels for nearby Laguna Beach vs. the handful or so in the hotel thread. (and 3 came up in Express, 2, 2.5, and 3*)

As stated in the introductory comments, the hotel list is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all hotels in a given area. It's a list of all hotels that have been received in accepted bids posted to BFT, plus some others we think are reasonably likely to be reported in the future. Priceline does not offer 5* bidding in Dana Point - San Juan Capistrano, so the Ritz-Carleton and St. Regis are not relevant for the purposes of research for NYOP. There are many zones where the total number of hotels available is far greater than the number of hotels in the hotel list. This is because there are many hotels that do not offer significant discounts through NYOP, and other hotels that offer such big discounts that they swallow up most of the bids for that zone. There are also many zones that not a lot of people bid for, and therefore we receive few reported bids for hotels there.

Sorry about that, I hadn't seen the the 5*'s weren't in the NYOP part. I haven't gone as far yet to do actual bidding for the stay yet, just the preliminary research to see what hotels showed up on PL. I knew the Express Deals were their own thing, but didn't realize that PL pulls up hotels that are not part of NYOP.

I haven't booked through PL in a couple years so there was nothing to post.

FWIW,
I'll probably be attempting sometime tonight/tomorrow to snag the 4* Laguna Cliffs Marriott for ~160-180ish (rack rate $249), using Laguna Beach (1 expensive 4*) and San Clemente (no 4*) as my rebid zones.

Update -
Used BFT link, attempted 155-165-175 (Dana Pt + Laguna Beach + San Clemente), not accepted.
Rack rate and PL Price for Laguna Cliffs is listed as $199 now (which is why I picked the price points I attempted)
I'll attempt $180 tomorrow.
