I am a long time Priceline customer reserving 50-70 rooms a year.  I have $50 bonus bucks in my account because of a air/car combo booked in October.  I have attempted to use with bids that are always "wins" but because of the bonus bucks, they have suddenly become "losses".  My favorite is the inability to "win" a room at Seatac Airport for $30 plus $10 bonus per night for $40.  Merry Christmas!

I’ve used them for both hotels and car rentals.  The won bids seemed to be what I expected. It has been a while (about 18 months back) since I’ve had them to use so maybe things have changed. I guess the only way to check it would be to rebid at $40 without the Bonus $ and see what happens.

My husband bid $40 on his computer and "won" the reservation.

That tells me that there might be something to this. I don't have Bonus Dollars to work with right now but for others who do, please let us know if you find the same lack of expected winning bids when using Bonus Dollars.

I'd also like to know if anyone is winning on these bonus bucks which expire on Friday. I've been bidding like crazy with no luck, so I may try without them to see what happens. Mine are longshots on Carib. resorts so I can't say for sure but I'm skeptical.

I have used these in the past without any problem, but the current bonus requires a three-night stay instead of the previous two-night requirement; there are not too many areas that I feel comfortable committing to a three-night stay!

Again, attempted to use for 3 nights for a Seatac hotel with no luck up to $45 per night ($35 plus $10).  Easily reserved for $40 using traditional means.  I love Priceline but wish they would not play games with their marketing - it is not necessary.

The bonus process may be more complex. A $10 bonus is twice as much in terms of percentage on a $40 bid as on an $80 one. I had a room in Honolulu that I got for $75 + 10 bonus and others had to go much higher without  a bonus, so it was real. It's clear from Catlover that bidding $30 for a $40 room doesn't work, so my guess is the $10 bonus will apply in higher bids and may be ignored in lower bids. Or perhaps the hotel has to agree to accept the bonus.

Yes, they're real.  I think you've just had some bad luck.

I have used bonus money many times over the years.  There have been times when I have won a hotel for, say, $25, then looked at the computer at checkin and seen that the hotel's Priceline rate was $35.  So it's definitely for real.

I agree with Readymade that they were real when I used them but as I stated before, it has been a while since I have used them and maybe things are different now. Readymade, how long ago was is when you had success using the bonus money?
