I have been quite good at bidding for hotels over the past 5 years thanks to BFT, but I am in need of some bidding assistance.

For the past two days I have bid $90 and $95 for a Resort hotel in Grand Cayman on the dates listed.  Both bids were rejected with a median price for a Resort listed at $479 on priceline.  However, tonight when I went to bid, the median price dropped to $179!

I know median price should be ignored for BFTers, but this decrease scared me into thinking that either a luxury resort (Ritz?) pulled out or unlisted low-starred resorts were now available.  Should I ignore this red flag and just keep bidding in $3-$5 increments?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for providing all of the information requested. Ritz Carlton doesn't participate in Priceline Name Your Own Price. I just think you are bidding too early. I would wait at least a week to bid again starting at $90 and bidding $100 after 24 hours. Considering your dates include the 4th of July holiday, those rates are not high.

Please place your Priceline/Hotwire bids/purchases through the link in my signature or by clicking the Priceline/Hotwire banners on the right side of the screen. And please keep Priceline in mind for your conventional travel bookings as well.

Please update your email address in your Yuku profile if it's no longer current.

Thanks for the quick response Sheryl.  I'll wait a week before I start the bidding process anew through your signature link and let you know how things turn out.

Hi Sheryl,

I started bidding again and got rejected at $80 yesterday and $90 tonight with the "very small chance of being accepted" warning.  What is interesting is that I was able to reserve a room as a backup for my dates at the Westin resort for $157/night (excluding taxes and resort fees).  By the way, resort fees at the Westin are $20/night for other interested travelers.

Another interesting thing is that the hotel list has changed since I saw it a couple weeks ago.  Now the Marriott is listed as a 4* instead of a resort and the Westin is nowhere to be found.  Is this accurate or am I being delusional?  Thanks in advance.

It's still early, more than a month away.

I think you are being delusional because if you look at the very bottom of the Hotel List, it shows a last edit date in March. I don't recall the Westin ever coming up in the Cayman Islands but you can scroll through the 9 pages on posts on this forum if you want to double check.
