Bidding Assistance: Kauai Poipu 10/16-10/20 4*

Resort fees are prevalent in certain zones. Keep in mind that some hotels charge excessive resort fees which you may be unable to dispute as Priceline now states on their website that these fees are your responsibility.

This is probably a long shot but figured I'd let the experts here tell me what to expect.
1. Kauai
2. Poipu
3.10/16/2013
4.10/20/13
5. 1
6. 4.5 * (would consider 4* if getting a 4.5* doesn't seem possible based on the data below)
7. The Grand Hyatt appears to be sold out for those exact dates.  I called their customer service and they are sold out as of now for the 10/16 check in date.  10/17-10/20 the cheapest rate was $427.
Priceline has an express deal for 4.5* in Poipu for $410 for the 10/16-10/20 dates though.
8. Hyatt.com and Priceline Express Deals
9. Kappa and Princeville
10.$200
11. Yes
12.Yes
13. Yes

Based on that Express Deal rate, your limit is very unrealistic.

Please place your Priceline/Hotwire bids/purchases through the link in my signature or by clicking the Priceline/Hotwire banners on the right side of the screen. And please keep Priceline in mind for your conventional travel bookings as well.
Please place all of your Priceline bids through our Priceline link.
Please check rates at Hotwire and make your bookings through our Hotwire link.

Your limit is much too much lower than the Express Deal rate. Frankly, I think it's just too early. I would reserve a cancellable backup to protect against a rate increase. Please post current rate info. in a month. I'm leaving now for a couple of hours.

Tried bidding $160 just to see.  Offer was declined.  Will follow your advice and will keep monitoring.  Is there a certain price for the express deal that would indicate that it's a good time to bid?

Frankly, I think it's more important to monitor retail rates than Express Deal rates. That said, the Express Deal rate would have to get down to about $175. The reason it's more important to monitor retail rates as sometimes the Express Deal rate can be higher than the retail rate.

Please continue to bid through our link to Priceline and do not bid through a Priceline email.

I checked the rates for the 16 and 17th and the express deal on Priceline is $157 and then it's $159 for Saturday. It looks like the Friday night is what's throwing the pricing off. I have a back up reservation at the Hilton for $199 a night already. Should a I try booking Priceline for the fist two nights and then keeping my $199 reservation for the next two? Based on the $157 express deal what do you think a name your own price bid would be? Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance!

I prefer seeing what the retail rates are than relying exclusively on the Express Deal rates. Please post the retail rates individually. The Express Deal rates are not always indicative of occupancy rates like retail rates more frequently are.
