My son's friend won this bid. He said that he started at $60, and eventually got $69. I am surprised that he got a good deal considering that it's on a Monday, and the website shows $299.  An important note, and the reason that I'm posting this bid here, is that San Jose Marriott is showing on the BFT hotel list as 3.5* --- it is now 4*

Thanks for posting. I know both the Marriott and the Doubletree were previously rated 4*. They were both apparently downgraded recently and I suspect since the Marriott is now a 4* again, the Doubletree is too since Hilton will not allow their hotels to be the only hotel with a specific rating in a zone.

Thank you for reporting the Marriott's rating change to us, aTOMMYx. I've updated the hotel list.

The DoubleTree is still rated 3.5* by Priceline; I would have been surprised if it had been upgraded to 4* again given the reviews it gets. The Hyatt Place San Jose, formerly a Crowne Plaza, is now rated 3.5*.
